How the Heck Does This Open???
OK, my new humi cane with a rectangular humidifier and it looked like a great candidate to switch out the foam for beads. But I can't open it. Anyone have one and know how to crack this open?

With a hammer.
Seriously, they're sealed shut. Either bash it in with a hammer like I did and glue it back together, or drill a hole in the back center. There is usually a support post that connects the front and back, if you cut this out you can probably open it. |

Be very careful as they can crack. One was cracked when I recieved it so I figured I would open it up and see if I could fill it with heartfelt. Anyway.. If you want to try it I would use a credit card and slowly run it around the outside until you pop the little pieces of glue. Then very gently rotate the opposite ends and you sill see that the insert will start to shift back. You may want to use the credit card to try to help the insert out a bit. After you get it open just remove the foam and wipe it down and reverse! Make sure you take you time though like I said the plastic is brittle but it can be done. I will try to post some pics if in a bit Steve |

However if yours has a pin in it like mine did, no amount of poking and prodding will work, just a big drill. |

Did you purchase a treasure dome? Not trying to be a smart ass just want to understand the pin. I have the exact humidifier that was shown (mine is from a treasure dome) in the pic which is the one reason I spoke up. Pics to follow. Steve |

Re: How the Heck Does This Open???
OK the Humidifier
![]() ![]() The real trick on this humidifier is the corners. They are very tight and the card will not turn the corner but get as close as you can as there is glue in the corners. ![]() Terrible picture I know. But what I'm showing here is after the glue has been broken when you flex the humi it will start to back out. BE GENTLE... If you have a box cutter (jiffy cutter) you could use this to very very lightly pry on the inner sleeve to help it out of the outer. Pushing on the front (look at the last picture there are 3 posts that will help to push the insert back) with a light twist helps. ![]() And the finished product after the beads have been added to it. As you see there are 3 posts in the center of the bottom section. Once you have broken the glue on the sides if you push where the are it will help to force it backwards. Do it to hard and you will crack the grill so again exercise time and patience. As is the case with everything else cigars....Take your time, if you rush this you will probably crack it. I was actually planning to fill it with the Humi-Care gel but Charlie gifted me some Heartfelt beads so I put them in instead. Good Luck Steve |

Re: How the Heck Does This Open???
Ya, I see the glue. I tried an X-acto knife, thinking I could pry it out. I will just work at it with the knife.
If I get pissed off at it, then I will use the hammer! ![]() Thanks!!!

Re: How the Heck Does This Open???
My x-acto knife is thinner than a credit card. I will be careful. If it doesn't work i will use the credit card as a fall back.

Good Deal
I knew I had faith in you! JK One last thing it looks like you can pile them up high, make sure after you try to fill them you run something across the top to make sure they arent over filled or it will try to pop back open. Steve |

Re: How the Heck Does This Open???
It was a no-name puck, and there was a plastic rod that ran though the middle of it, however it was melted to both ends, impossible to remove without breaking it.
