Outdoor Smoking Set Up

Maybe this has been done, but I want to set up a semi permanent place to smoke cigars out on my porch. A couple of comfy chairs, table, ash tray (more to rest the cigar, who needs an ashtray outside?), whatever. Just looking for ideas, things I haven't thought of. Be a nice place to sip some scotch or drink a beer too.

Post pics if you got 'em. Thanks!

Re: Outdoor Smoking Set Up

I usually smoke on my front porch, it isn't anything fancy but works. I have a few chairs with some side tables for drinks, ashtrays, and accessories. I wlil take a pic and post it tomorrow. I have also thought of those outdoor canopies you can get at the "Home Improvement Warehouse(s)". They keep the sun off you and you can put bug netting around them if thats an issue. Not sure how they are on the rain protection though, never sat under one in the rain. Just a few thoughts

Re: Outdoor Smoking Set Up

I have a little deck with a table and chairs in the back yard. Very simple, nothing crazy. Works good because I have two huge trees that shades pretty much the whole back yard. I want to add a fire pit before the fall.

Just looking for a little inspiration. Seeing if anyone has something really cool or unique.

Re: Outdoor Smoking Set Up

If I had the room and the place, I'd say a few wooden adorondac (i bouched the spelling) chairs they have a nice recline and look really swank. Granted could be a lil $$$$. Worked at a country clud that had a bunch some with foot rests and end tables they were very comfy. Of course for the money the plastic ones are comfy too. I too am working on a lil something. right now I use a recline camping chair and a 5 gallon bucket upside down...

I have set it up where 8-10 people can sit around talking and smoking. You do need to have ashtrays for those who some cigs. We have a couch, love seat and the kings chair (mine) all made of wicker with a patio glass table with 4 chairs close by. When it gets dark I have rope lights under the glass table and around the patio roof. Looks great at night without being to bright.

That actually sound kind cool. The gears are spinning.

I'd love to set something up like that on the pool deck, except for the infernal bugs. Not that I ever have guests, but it would be cool to be prepared with a setup like that.

Re: Outdoor Smoking Set Up

We don't have bugs, we have wind...and snow. But we do have lots of sunny days, even in the winter and a covered, south facing porch. I liked the rope light idea. Much more romantic or whatever than the big floods.

I never use to use an ashtray until recently. (Thanks to SmoknTaz!) but since I started using it I find my cigars burn better. Allowing the ash to naturally fall rather than flicking the ashes on the ground seems to help. Dunno, could be all in my head.

I've only been smoking for a month or so and I think the ash matters. It seems to change flavor when the ash falls. It comes back, but I think there is something to the idea that it protects the cigar from getting to hot.

Or it could just be fun trying to see how long I can get the ash!
