Bullet punch- I just dont know.
Two questions. ![]() 1) Is it suppossed to be extremely sharp? Because this one doesnt feel much sharper then the pop top opening of a soda can. Best relation I can think of. 2) On reading up on them, I see people kind of twisting it in. , but I see where they say, that the bullet punch is self cleaning? I punched a couple of el cheapos I have in humidor, that I plan to smoke or give away this week, and it seems like I have to remove the plugs myself. I used a small jewelers screwdriver. Can someone explain to this dodo head, how its suppossed to be selfcleaning, or maybee the cheapo ones, dont do it? Much regards Jerry |

Re: Bullet punch- I just dont know.
I have a few punches, though I rarely use them anymore. I prefer to cut all my cigars. Both punches have a spring loaded cleaning rod that allows you to push the core out of the punch.
Both of the punches are fairly sharp. They would definitely cut skin if you were to push and twist on your finger. I twist the punch into the cigar, seems to work better that way. |

Re: Bullet punch- I just dont know.
Thanks. I guess the one I have is just a piece of junk. I guess thats why they throw them in. Not sharp even one the thumb , I wont cut me, and no spring loader self cleaner on it. But it does look cool on the keychain.

Re: Bullet punch- I just dont know.
I use to only use the punch on smaller RG cigars but have since been cutting all my cigars. I like the draw better if I cut them.

Re: Bullet punch- I just dont know.
I used a punch for awhile but it didn't really do the trick for me. A good punch will be sharp enough where once used it won't tear the cap ( wise to moisten the tip a bit so once the punch is used you won't be crack or tear whilst you move the punch back and forth) and some people actually will punch a few holes in a start pattern on the bigger RG cigars. It's all a matter of what you like. In theory the hole punch aids in the draw of smoke into your mouth thru the cylindrical hole,,,,not sure I buy that theory but it sounds good. Try every type of cut you can Jerry and see which one you like best. I keep coming back to my old tried and true V Cut.

Re: Bullet punch- I just dont know.
Thanks .
I happen to have ordered a v cut, due with fedex on wednesday. BIG STUPID QUESTION? After cutting the v notch, I assume you smoke the cigar with the notch parallel to the ground(assuming you are not lyeing down). LOL Or do you smoke with the notch vertical? Or it doesnt make a difference. I dont want to have to align my cigar every time I go for a puff? Much regards Jerry |

Re: Bullet punch- I just dont know.
Jerry, it doesn't matter what position the notch is at. No need to index the cats eye.
Tip: If you don't get adequate draw with a V notch on some cigars, cut then twice in an cross like an X. |

Re: Bullet punch- I just dont know.
I have a punch on my key chain for those just in case moments, and I don't carry a cutter with me all the time.

Re: Bullet punch- I just dont know.
I used a punch that was never very sharp. It worked well (by twisting a bit). When I changed over to the V-cutter, I decided I like it better - easier to use and just as nice a cut. I find no difference in the direction the cut is in when smoked.
