Help me, I must be stupid....

I finally received my 15 count travel humidor. I will be using a drymistat tube to keep the rh.
Heres my stupid question.
I see the beads and how much water to put in it. It came with a solid cap on it, plus attached to it , a perforated cap.
Am I right to assume I remove the solid cap, add the water as needed and to put the perforated cap on, and not use the solid cap?
I know this seems duh........ but the instructions say how the tube is porous and will allow water vapor out, but not liquid. So this is throwing some doubt.
The instructions also say take off the cap, add water and replace the cap, without specifying that there are two different caps....The solid cap was in there at presentation.
I dont want to screw it up or the 15 cigars that will be in with the tube.
Gosh, for an educated person, some things just seem to have two answers.

What I did with mine was use the perforated cap and throw away the solid cap. What I assumed was that the solid cap was for shipping/display only so the beads don't dry up quickly. We all know what happens when you assume though.

Okay,, problem. I filled up with dw as per instructions. I let it sit for 10 minutes to absorb.
I placed on top of foam in new 15 cigar caddy. I put a caliber 3 that is spot on next to it.
Closed it up for two hours. Opened up and checked and rh is reading 60.
Waited another hour, and same thing. Put the caliber 3 in with one of my other humis, and the rh showed the way it should be 68 degrees.
I then put the hygro back in the cigar caddy, and gave a splash of pg solution to that small sponge credo.
Will see what happens next.
Does the drymistat, take a lot longer to react thenI am alloting. Because I figure its such a small confined space, I should have seen something.
Looking forward to stocking it up, and having it in my truck.
