For a better cut moisten the tip of your cigar first but not so much where it is too moist. Press the head of the cigar into the cutter and hold it firmly and then clip. The issue with this kind of cutter is that it's not bulky enough to withstand the cigar like the block V Cut of the Boston Cutter.

I have two V cutter's. One from CI and a Wolf.

The Wolf is sharp and makes a clean cut, but it has a small area for the cap to fit in. It produces a shallow cut on a 50 ring gauge with a flat cap. Works great on cigars with ring gauges < 50 or with rounder caps. My favorite corona cutter.

The CI doesn't make as clean a cut as the Wolf, but works better on the larger ring gauges.

I'll try that this afternoon. I was amazed that multiple cuts didn't trash the cap at all.

Yeah, my first cut with it was a corona. The box says up to 52 ring gauge, but I don't believe it. I tend to buy large RGs in torpedo anyway, so it shouldn't be a big deal.

Same here. At first I was a little hesitant at cutting a torpedo with my v-cutter, but after I did I realized I could use this for all my cigars. I haven't used my regular cutter since.

Once you've had a good V cut it's hard to go back.

Re: V-Cutter

Oh the Wolf cutter hands down gets my vote! While I'm sure Gary's cutter is awesome that seem like a lot of money. I have had my Wolf cutter for 2 years and use the hell out of it and it works like it did the first time I used it. Here is a review I posted of it Wolf V-Cutter review w/pics for GlockG23 These go for about $10, so you can get one while you are saving money for the other one. By the way I not even really a fan of the V-Cut but I use the Wolf V-Cutter 90% of the time just because of how good it cuts.

Re: V-Cutter

I tried the V-cutter on a torpedo (ML3) last night. The draw was okay at first, but I wound up having to clip twice because of plugging. I can't get a second, deeper cut with the Wolf, but I like it better for the coronas and robustos.
