Humi crystals = OH NOEZ!
I have been using a couple of the little CI 2oz crystal humidification jars in my overflow humi. Earlier tonight when I was checking my beads in the main humi and the jars I noticed a small bit of brown discoloration in some of the clear humi crystals. I am super paranoid, so worried it was mold I tossed the crystals in the garbage rinsed out the little plastic containers and instead put some extra heartfelt beads I had in the jars instead. Anybody else ever had / heard of mold developing in these crystals? I like the heartfelt beads better anyway but thought I would give the crystals a try as they came as a freebie. Checked the inside of the humi and the sticks inside but did not see any sign of mold thank goodness.

Sure mold may develope, but that's not what you saw. Just like celo', beads can become discolored from the tobacco. No need to pitch them.

Yeah, a brown color is probably tobacco discoloration (and/or impurities in the water if you aren't refilling with distilled). no reason to panic.
