Is this cutter experience unusual
Until a few months ago, my cigar smoking was one a day. Now its 2 or 3 but never more.
I have been using the same cutter I got for free three years at a b and m. It is a double, guiottine(spelling), with no springs. It sort of has a safety piece on it, so you cant cut too much with any swipe. You just manually pull the blades apart in the plastic pullers with your fingers, touch the cap to the plastic, and snip. You do not even have to look when you do it. I have had to snip at least a thousand cigars with it, with nary a mishap or resharpening. I am sure its a two buck or less cutter. The safety thing is sort of what I have for clipping my k9s nails. It will only clip off a maximum amount at a time. have I been lucky, as I read so many people say they used their cutter for two weeks(and some expensive ones) and they got so dull they wouldnt cut, or springs were broken, etc. Just curious Much regards Jerry |

Re: Is this cutter experience unusual
For a $2 cutter you are indeed lucky to get that much usage out of them. I'd like to see a photo or a link to what they look like or brand. I am somewhat of a cutter collector as I have all kinds,,,my favorite being the V cutter. I like Palio and Xikar and have a table top as well as some other decent cutters that I get for about $10. My next one is the Big Boston Cutter that sells for $600 but it has 4 different kinds of cuts and it is strictly table top.

Re: Is this cutter experience unusual
I always lose cutters like that before I get too many cuts. It drives me nuts when I can't find one. I'm protective of my Xikar (wedding gift) and won't take it on the golf course unless of course I've lost all my others. Impressive though to get that level of production from a free one.

My hands are too stiff sometimes to align a cutter with a blade and get a clean cut. I used to use my knifeyinstead or a scissor on my swiss army. This is a great process, and they really do a great job. Now I dont have many points cigars and such, so cant vouch for those. Jerry |
