Evaluate this Humidor Application

I am going to be picking up several hundred dollars with of some very fine/expensive cigars. I would like to display them and will be holding on to them for several years and I am looking at a second humidor to help. See pic below (from cheaphumidors.com).

Does anyone have this humidor and how is it working out? Also would an all glass humidor (although I do like the display factor ) be a good idea? All advise welcome.

Thanks,

George

It's pretty, but not the best use of space.
Keep it out of any sunlight.

Re: Evaluate this Humidor Application

Glass windowed humidors look very nice, but aren't the best for storing and aging cigars. Glass is a poor insulator, and so temp regulation is not optimum as the temp will raise and lower easily. Also, sunlight will damage the cigars as well. Lastly, the more glass on the humi, the more chances for a poor seal which will make keeping a steady rh difficult.
That being said, a glass paned humi will be ok if you are able to better regulate the ambient room temp and keep the humidor out of sunlight.
Just understand that a wooden, spanish cedar lined box is ideal, and will age and protect your precious smokes without worry.

Booo...

For reasons stated, Id never keep anything but daily smokers in there. If it were in a well regulated basement mancave with no windows, maybe.

Thanks for the replies. Point taken. Does everyone advise the same for a good glass top humidor? I would rather be safe than sorry but would like to dispay if possible without comprising the cigars...

I have a 150ct. Humi with a small glass panel on the front and top.
I think provided you have much more wood then glass, and keep it out of the sunlight.. You should be fine. Mine hovers between 68-72deg..

I personally enjoy the little "peek" inside windows.. It lets me admire my stash without opening the lid all the time.

I have a larger humidor, with a small glass window on top, and have no problems keeping it pretty steady. Just keep it out of sunlight.

But to comment on the picture you posted, i agree with everyone saying that much glass could pose a problem.

Yea, the picture posted is the type of humidor you often see inside another larger humidor or on the counter in southern grocery stores.

Display type humidors tend to have too much glass and inlay of the doors don't tend to over lap like typical desktop humidors.

Re: Evaluate this Humidor Application

I have something similar to that, but with drawers and the display is only a small portion in the front for my daily smokes. Works fine and I like how it has 7 drawers and allows me to doublestack my smokes. I think it was from CB several years back. Whatever you do don't rely and the gauge they come with. Get a nice digital and use that instead.
