A question about humidifer location within humidor
I finished building my own humidor about a month and a half ago, it was a pain in the ass but worth it in the end. Currently it has one of the xicar 250 rectangular humidifers on the top and 1 xicar 50 round humidifers in it. That setup worked well over the summer and my humidity stayed right around 66-68%. But now that its winter time the humidity is not stable at all, so I want to get some heartfelt beads. My question is since my humidor is display style it is almost 3 feet tall, so if I got a pound or a half pound of humidity beads and just put them in a bowl on the bottom would it work? Or do i need to get one of the heartfelt bead cases so I can place the beads on the roof of the humidifer? The humidor has a volume or around 2 cubic feet. Thanks in advance.

Re: A question about humidifer location within humidor
Brett, most people mistakenly think that humidity falls when in reality it rises. I would suggest putting the majority of the beads in the bottom with a smattering of them mid-level and upper-level.

Re: A question about humidifer location within humidor
Thats good news, Ill probably get a pound since humidity in the northeast jumps around so much and Im still working on getting a tighter seal on my DIY humi.

Re: A question about humidifer location within humidor
Hey, any chance of getting a picture of your creation? Also, I would recommend getting a couple of digital hydos, and placeing them at different locations/levels inside, sometimes there are rather large swings of humidity in a box.

Re: A question about humidifer location within humidor
I would post up a pic but i need to have 30 posts to post pictures or links unfortunatly. Currently it has one of the don salvatore analog style digital hygrometers and Im probably going to get a small basic one to place somewhere around the bottom or middle of the humidor as well since the one I have now is right at the top.
