lighter question
Sorry for the simplicity of question, but I dont know. I have about six lighters(butane), and just about all of them were included in an order, or actually came with my surprise in a cigar box. Altadis is good on this.
Only one came with instructions, and I am not sure of this. Are all butane lighter constructed the same in the way it creates a spark to ignite. What I am asking is , is there a part that will wear out after a certain amount of ignitions, that would need to be replaced, such as a flint or something else? If so, what are the use factors before this happens. ? Much regards Jerry |

Re: lighter question
The problem with most butane lighters that come free with purchase is that they are assembled poorly. The electronic ignition normally outlasts the lighter but the holes that allow oxygen to circulate in the ignition chamber usually become clogged. Pay attention to the port holes around the burner....if you see any buildup of ash or trash in the holes a fine wire brush will normally remove the debris and return the lighter to like new operation. If the holes become clogged and you continue to light up without cleaning you sometimes can't get the trash out.
Always use multiple filtered fuel. I like the triple or quadruple filtered stuff...limits the possibility of clogging the fuel line. If the fuel line cloggs...throw it away. |

Re: lighter question
And don't forget to purge it once in a while to, that will help to maintain the reliability factor.

Re: lighter question
Spend some money and Buy a S.T. Dupont or Dunhill lighter ... you wont regret it. You can find them used and recently serviced on Ebay for around 150-200. And they will last for years, while only needing to worry about replacing the flint and refiling with fuel.
