Tampa Humidor Trivoli Dismay :(

As i have been waiting for a week for my new Trivoli to arrive in the mail i've been looking at all the posts that helped me make my decision on my first cabinet humidor and planning the seasoning..... I know that this isn't the most expensive humidor on the market and you get what you pay for and while I had the option of an imperfect i decided to pay the extra bucks for the (what i thought was) perfect model.

Box came and looked beat up at the bottom which was a little troubling before i opened up. Sure enough found the bottom corner smashed in and chipping ARRGGGHHHH but that isn't what bothered me as I can not fault Tampa for this..... The cedar inside was where the magnets are mounted is cracked and the finished wood next to that is chipped and the finish is scratched like a wandering drill was used to install the magnets!!!

Has anyonne had problems with Tampa like this before??? And what have you done to rectify the situation??? I'm not the one to nit pick but this kinda bums me out on the whole process.

(Sorry for the long post but i had to vent to someone )

That sucks man. I bought my desktop from Tampa last fall and it was fine. I would give em a call in the morning and I'm sure they will take care of you. I know its frustrating though...

Yeah give them a call for sure. I just received my Trivoli today actually. Did a quick once over and did not notice any defects to the extent that you mentioned. After hearing this I'll be sure to do a more thorough inspection in the morning.

Keep us posted as to what you hear.

Cheers,
Brad

The rest of the construction looks decent but i'm sure that i will have to put the felt arount the doors to help the seal. Once I talk to the guys at Tampa i will post again with updates.

Thanks again for your support

Re: Tampa Humidor Trivoli Dismay :(

No problem at all. Yeah I'm going to follow one of the previous guides on this forums and go with the felt from the craft store. Cigar Oasis XL plus and some beads up top.

Cheers,
Brad

I wouldn't accept anything other than what you expected. Give them a chance to make it right for you.

Re: Tampa Humidor Trivoli Dismay :(

Latest and Greatest on the Humidor.... Spoke to woman at Tampa who said that they would send for the package and as soon as they received confirmation that it was picked up they would ship out a new unit. Unfortunately the soonest that they can do that is Monday.

Also asked that i send them copies of the pictures of the damage and a breif explanation. Great of them to do this but not i would have this thing seasoned and ready to go for a while. I wish that they would have offered me something for my time and inconvenience but i'm not really gonna push the subject haha.

Hope this turns out good!

Happy Halloween to all

Re: Tampa Humidor Trivoli Dismay :(

I bought the Trivoli from Tampa Hummidor last year and I love it! Give Tampa a chance to do the right thing, they want the customer to be happy with their order. I highly recommend ordering cigars from them, great specials in on their e-mail list and they normally include humidity packs in with the shipment. Wish other places did that.

Hi
I think Theresa & Mike are the owners, I have emailed and spoken to them and am impressed with their desire to make me happy. I have a good feeling towards them even though the two humidors I ordered haven't gotten here yet. I bet they take care of it for you!

Re: Tampa Humidor Trivoli Dismay :(

I think Tampa will make you whole again. Give them the chance. I also have a Trivoli, and the problems I found were loose hinge screws on the doors, and poor sealing on the doors. I too went the felt route, and am happy with it. I also did the Cigar Oasis XL, with two Hydra fanswired to the CO) on different levels, and three 8 ounce bags of beads on mutiple levels.

Re: Tampa Humidor Trivoli Dismay :(

I also have a Trivoli from Tampa, and like you, did a LOT of research on it before I made the purchase decision.

I do recall someone from over a year ago who had bought a different humidor from Tampa and had a similar experience, significant damage had occurred during shipping. Tampa replaced the unit for him within a very reasonable amount of time and he was pretty satisfied. Thats one of the reasons I chose Tampa, and it seems like they are living up to their good reputation of taking care of customers here.

I never blame a retailer when something is damaged, lost, wrong item sent out, etc. I only ask that the error or problem be fixed promptly, and thats how I decide whether to work with someone again in the future or not. Hopefully it works out in the end to your full satisfaction.

Btw- since you have a Trivoli, and assuming you've done your research, you probably know it will likely have some humidity leaks. I suggest you go through some of the threads, including one I created on how to seal it up better...

My Trivoli Thread

Good luck and post up some pictures soon!

Good thing they are making it right by you and sending another one. Like you said they can not control what happens when it leaves the warehouse in shipping.

Your thread was one of the ones that really helped me decide on the Trivoli and I was very impressed with the way yours turned out! Only thing that bummed me out was that they discontinued the Mahogany and all that was available was the Cherry Not really that much of an issue but I can't wait to do some lighting and fans and get some pictures posted!

From the pics and what I read it looks like you just use the Cigar Oasis and took all of the beads out? I will be using the felt like you and many others have but am still trying to figure out all of my humidification options.... Any input on how it's working out for you will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks again for everyones support I think that Tampa is going to come through on this one!

Re: Tampa Humidor Trivoli Dismay :(

Brian,

I just bought the Trivoli myself, came in a few days ago. Like mentioned by others I will be heading to Micheal's and buying some felt to tighten up the seals on the doors.

As far as humidification, this is what I have on order.

Humidor Humidity Beads, Heartfelt Humidity Beads X 2
Cigar Oasis XL Plus Electronic Cigar Humidifiers
Digital Hygrometer w/ Calibration Kit - Rectangular - Tampa Humidor X 2

The Cigar Oasis XL Plus will be on my second self in the bottom unit. I will put one of the tubes on the bottom of the unit and the second tube on the top where the individual cigars will lay. As far as fans go, the only one I will be using is the one provided in the Cigar Oasis unit.

That will be my initial setup. Plans for the future may include some quiet pc fans. Other than that I assume all will work well.

Cheers,
Brad
