First post and new to this....

Hello,

I have been smoking cigars for about a year. I just ordered my first humidor, an Ebano Dome Cigar HUmidor 200ct and an Oasis XL Plus. The reason I got the plus is because the regular one was backordered and didn't feel like waiting. My question is, will the Plus be too much of a humidifying device? Will it not be as efficient? Where would be the best place to set the Cigar Oasis?

As I said, this is my first humidor and bought it sight unseen. Is it pretty good? Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

This one?

If so, that's a beauty! As for the Oasis XL Plus, it will be fine. More than fine even...

Also.... Welcome Aboard Andy!

Yeap, that's the one!! Thanks. Really looking forward to getting it next week and buying new cigars, after it's been seasoned, of course.

I don't think I will, but will any beads be needed or just the Cigar Oasis?

For a 200 ct, it'll be fine without beads. Beautiful humidor, I've been looking for a larger one myself. This one may just take the cake.

Thanks guys. Do you guys buy a lot of cigars online or from your local shop. Living in Orlando I am really close to a local cigar bar (Co..na Cigar) whic I love to go to. They have thousand of cigars there and I like the fact that I can touch what I'm buying. What do you guys recommend?

Re: First post and new to this....

There are deals to be had online, but I generally only purchase online if it is something my B&M can't get ahold of. All other purchases are through my B&M because they know what I like, and know what to recommend when I come in.

Nice humidor. I remember buying my first humidor about 5 years ago and have since ubgraded to a cabinet style and several other smaller humidors around the house.

Not sure what kind of cigars you like to smoke but I just recently tried the Rocky Patel Nording cigars and would recommend them if you like a medium-full cigar. Some local shops offer tasting events where you can try a brand and then purchase that brand at a discount during the event, that is how I stocked up on many of my favorites.

Well, I have smoked a few cigars but didn't take the time to note what they were until recently. I don't know how these rank but I like the Avo No3 and the La Flor Diminicana Coronado Corona Special. I kind of like the Avo better, maybe because it is a milder cigar. I have also had Romeo and Juliet, RP, and Montecristo.

I do a little of both. B&Ms as with Puff are great for learning more about cigars. Find a B&M with decent prices and pay them a visit every month, or week, or day... Make friends with B&M employees or owners it will eventually pay off as they will throw you deals, and let you in on exclusive releases that are about the same price as online. In California, the prices of cigars are high compared to everywhere else, but after I made friends at my favorite B&M I started getting deals and the prices started to become closer to what I would pay online + shipping.

But like others have mentioned there are deals to be had online too. Just try to balance your purchases. If you want to try a stick and not dive into a 5-pack just get it at the B&M. If you like it and find it cheaper online go that route.

Living in Orlando, close to Corona Cigar, you have the advantage of having the AVO Lounge (Blue Band) available to you. You should try one of those when you get a chance.

From what I hear Avo Uvezian can be seen at that Corona Cigar Lounge from time to time chilling or playing a piano. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: First post and new to this....

Before "seasoning" that humi, be sure you take an accurate RH reading. I'm willing to wager that box is going to come from one humid climate to another. As such, it won't need anything but a good dusting.

If it's a few % from where you want it (lower), just let the COXL do the work. A couple days of running and you should be good to go. If it's a little high, leave it open for a day and check.

As for where I buy cigars, I buy cigars everywhere. Singles and small multiples, I buy locally. I have a lot of B&Ms to choose from and a couple are really cheap. Larger quantities and all boxes, I buy online. Box splits are also a nice way to build a collection and friendhips. Keep an eye on the "Box Splits" board and even post on there to guage interest in something you may want to offer to split.

Hey buddy, welcome!

Good looking humidor. One piece of modest advice - don't rush the seasoning process...take the time and do it right. It will save you heartache down the road. On my first Humi I was in such a hurry to get the smokes in there, the humidity never settled and fluctuated up and down for a month. It still doesnt sit right. Dried my smokes out too.
