Would these be OK for Humi Temp control?
I found a site that has Thermo Electric Air Conditioners and was wondering how well they would work for Temp control of humidors.
Will they effect or change the humidity? How large of an area would 50 btu maintain? http://melcorstore.stores.yahoo.net/thrumount.html Thanks Ken |

Re: Would these be OK for Humi Temp control?
Yes - they will work. I was actually looking at those myself in the 150 BTU range. Currently I am testing what I put together using inexpensive peltiers (same as a lot of guys are using) - I'm not real happy with the results at the moment and am upgrading the fans. If it does not work then I will spend the cash to get the high performance peltiers like these. At the moment I have spent less than $200 bucks to include the power supply. It does work - just not well enough for me on my size cabinet which is about 13.5 cubic feet.
Keep in mind that you will also need a powersupply rated to handle whichever cooler you get along with a temp controller. Good luck with it all - Ron |

Re: Would these be OK for Humi Temp control?
Zoom,
I own a Melcor. http://www.clubstogie.com/vb/showthread.php?t=27274 They will effect relative humidity but there are ways around this. I bought the peltier based MAA150T-12/24. It does a cabinet that is BIG ENOUGH to hold two Vicksburgh humidors a 150 ct. humi and a 75 ct. humi. If you are just cooling a box big enough to hold your humidors you don't have anything further to worry about go for it. If you are going to use it directly on a cabinet OR soem other box that will store boxes directly post it and I can go into more detail based on what you want to do. I can base it on what I've learned to date. Take a look at the thread above it may answer some questions you already have. The Melcore specific stuff starts about halfway down. Hope this helps.

Re: Would these be OK for Humi Temp control?
Thank you everyone.
I have spent so much on cigars lately that I better keep reading and researching before spending any $$$ for a while. Looks like I'm going to be working some weekends. |
