Re: otterbox? travel humi? suggestions please?

I just spent some time researching different travel humi options for myself and I settled on the otterbox 5 count. First off the otterbox seems to be the best travel humi out there no matter what size as it is super air tight/waterproof/cushions well and floats (VERY important if you boat/fish/hang out around water etc...) The last thing I wanted was my smokes well preserved on the bottom of a lake I chose the 5 count because it seems a lot smaller than the 10 count and I don't want to have to lug around an extra suitcase sized box for stogies. If I need more smokes for something like a long vacation I can fill up a tupperware container and beads for the less rough travel (leaving it in the hotel etc...) and when I am fishing, sightseeing or whatever I can pop a few in the otterbox for the day. Sorry for the long post I just have been doing a lot of research and thinking lately about my options for travel humidification.

Forgot- just bought my otterbox 5ct. on E-bay for 26 including shipping.

I've got a 10 count and the X-treme 18-24. Can't go wrong with these for traveling. I put them right in my carry on...so I can keep an eye on them.

Here's the link:

I have an herfador 15 count and I love it. With a water pillow you can keep sticks in there for weeks. I use it as a desk humi when I'm not travelling.

I have an 18 ct. Otterbox that I think I got off of cbid for $30-35. It works great. I have traveled from Virginia to Hawaii with it full multiple times and have never had a problem. It is water/air tight and cushions the cigars and holds them securely so no damage occurs. Right now it is my only humi too, and it works well for that. I have a few tubes of Heartfelt beads in there and it keeps my smokes perfect. A 10 ct. would be great for short trips...just remember it is always better to have extra cigars than not enough.

Re: otterbox? travel humi? suggestions please?

someone around here did some testing on the 5ct and figured out it don't hold humidity worth a darn; so if you're looking for something more than a few hours out on the town, don't get that. after that, I'd say the bigger the better. I have a 15-18ct case (was a gift; not sure of brand) that I prefer to the 15ct otterbox i used to have b/c the dimensions are more conducive to being thrown into my backpack or messenger bag. I also have a 50ct that is almost enough space for a 2-day herf. I actually took both to MMH and wished I had more storage.

as almost anyone will attest to in the end, get one with more room than you currently anticipate. you can always pad it with bubble wrap if it's too loose.

Re: otterbox? travel humi? suggestions please?

I just returned from a week long trip and used the otterbox 10 count. Going with advice I received here, I didn't wet the built-in humidifier at all and the smokes were perfect the entire trip. That thing seals tight! After getting off the airplane I had to pry it open It kept the cigars perfectly protected. I highly recommend it and suggest buying it from Mark at Cigarmony. I told him I was wanting one but that I needed it fast to get it before I left for my trip, and it was here in 1 day (priority mail). His service is superb!

yup ... Mark's the man. you can sometimes save a couple of bucks elsewhere sometimes; but why bother when you can count on top-notch service from this fine BOTL? cigarmony.com is da bomb.

You can get a 20 count humi from the devil for about 7 bucks. That;s what I use and it works great.

Re: otterbox? travel humi? suggestions please?

I've got a 5 and 10 ct from Mark and both are great. I use the 5 because it slips easily into my bag, but if I'm worried about quantity, I bring the 10. Problem is I never travel anywhere that I don't seem to find another B&M at with different smokes than what I brought, so I end up leaving with more than I came with...
