Aristocrat?

i know Bobs work is highly respected around the cigar world. how many of you actually own, or have seen someone elses, aristocrat humidor?

i'm thinking of ordering one. the one i'm eyeballing is the one in the dead center of the page....

i know about avallo, and of course our own member, arlin liss' work is exceptional.....

any suggestions/comments on one or the other? are there other cabinet makers (i know we have a few members on here who are starting out, doing their own, etc) that you would recommend a good looking at?

Re: Aristrocrat?

I have been eyeing a cabinet humi also. I was looking at those made by these guys and it's a tough decision. I'm interested in what people have to say. I know 1f1fan has an avallo 1200. may be he'll chime in.

Those humidors are beautiful. I'd love to see the finish up close.

Re: Aristrocrat?

i own the mini end table cabinet and am completely satisfied. The craftsmanship is excellent, though i have seen better detail work. I wish i had ordered it in a different wood though. I got the oak, should have gone with the mahogany. But that is just so it would match better with the library.

Anyway, Bob is excellent to deal with. I had a faulty CO come with mine and Bob replaced it with no hassle at all. I also had him quote me a custom design too. He gladly did that without any problem. It was just way beyond my budget.

There is only one problem -- it is too small

Hey Boys, how've ya' been? Guess my ears were burning. Sorry I haven't been around lately. I've been working my ass off, and haven't had time to chime in, or even view the boards. Things have changed a bit, huh?

Anyway, I'm absolutely loving my Avallo!! Matt is one of the best guys that I've ever done business with (in any aspect). My only regret is that I didn't order a bigger unit!! But I think I already went over that, and I really don't care to re-visit the subject! For the newer folks, if I would've ordered anything bigger, Mrs. Motortown would've cut my balls off, and I kinda like 'em. But back to the subject at hand...

I ordered the AH1200 Deluxe, and it's been everything that I had hoped for. I fill up the resevoirs with distilled water about every six weeks, and I'm good to go. The rh control keeps the humidity within 3% of whatever I set it at, but it's usually right on. For those considering a cabinet-style humi, I highly recommend logging on to www.avallohumidors.com and contact or call Matt.

Hope all is well with everyone at Club Stogie! I'll try to drop in more, but as I said before, I've been busier than shit. You can always PM me if you need me, and I'll pass along my cell number.

Re: Aristrocrat?

Hey guys, I agree with John on the Avallo, it is a great humi.

I have not seen any of Bobs work so I can't comment on those... but I love the 1200 Deluxe. If you want to go big go with the 2000 (Like John I wish I had gone with a bigger humi but I want to keep my balls intact also...)

Greg, check out http://www.cigarsolutions.com/ and talk with RonC...he is over at BOTL also...he is the retail arm of Avallo and can help you out with your decision.

Whatever you get I recommend the slide out drawers...it makes getting to the boxes in the back a lot easier. Also, if you have a lot of cabs go with the 2000...you cannot double stack cabs in the 1200.

The accumonitor system is great. Here is how it works...If your set-point is 65 the system will not kick on until the humidity drops to 61...4 points below your set point. Mine does stay within 2-3% of the set point...I have mine at 66 right now and it stays at 64.

Good storage for boxes and singles, but if you have mostly cabs look at the 2000 deluxe if you have the extra $$$.

Good luck and give me a shout if you need any more info.

Re: Aristrocrat?

john and paul (where the hell's george and ringo?),

thanks for the updates and thoughts on your avallo's.

another great member here (singleguy9) sent me a PM with a link to another forum we're also members of. i knew i could've just gone over there and searched, but i'm more active here and felt i'd like to get the words of guys i know a little bit more (and have at least talked to on the phone).

thanks again...

what's funny about this?
i told mike i was lookin at possibly getting one, then he goes and gets a big fat "spot award" check, and i see the cogs turning (ever so slowly, but, hey, it's mike), and i ask, "how many cabs can that buy? better yet, that'll almost pay for an aristocrat."

sure, he says, "nah, it's going back into saving to make up for that lawnmower i just bought."

then sure enough, 15 minutes later, "hey greg, what's those websites for the cabinet humidors?"

just cuz he's got money flowin' out his sphincter!!

actually, y'know what you could do with that money, mike? BUY A PLANE TICKET so we can get our stuff together for SoCal!!

Re: Aristrocrat?

Did you end up getting it IHT? I spoke to Ron from cigarsolutions today and he seem like a great guy, answered all my questions about the cabinet very well. I'm thinking of the 1200 deluxe but with a solid wood door and top, so that it can blend in with my bedroom furniture. I really wanted a cooled cabinet for aging boxes, but man they are very pricy. Don't know if I would be able to afford it. I'm the type of guy that likes to expend his money well, you know what I mean? I'll be looking at it as an investment that will pay off in the long run. I really need that second job to support this hobbie!

Re: Aristrocrat?

I have the Aristocrat. I think it is the best built humidor that I have ever seen. It keeps humidity and temp at a perfect steady 65/65. I have the humi system they supply it is awesome. I waited 6 weeks for this when I bought it.

I am thinking about upgrading to his M or M+ model. If I do,this will be my last humi that I buy I hope. I do remember saying that when I got the Aristocrat also.

Re: Aristrocrat?

i have an MXT26.5 temp controlled cabinet from Bob. Superb is all i can say, from construction, to rh/temp control. My cigars are smoking more consistently and ageing better now. It was alot of money, but you do get what you pay for.
