I used the beads until I got my Aristocrat with active electronic humidification.
Beads are great....the Set & Forget is unbelievable!!

Been making the switch to beads only in all of my humis/tupperdors/coolerdor. They are just the best thing I have seen...

Well, I have only one desktop humidor, and really don't plan on getting anything bigger until I can afford the habit. But from my experiences, I've tried the cheap floral foam they give you, the humidifier crystal/gel, the boveda packs, and the beads. Overall, the beads are definitely the most cost effective and tied with the boveda packs for ease of use. The crystal/gel stuff kept my cigars way too humid and the floral foam was just garbage.

Considering all the responses we see on the board when people ask questions, I'm not at all surprised by the results.
A huge portion of the people use beads, and the next largest group of people use electronic humidifications -- probably for the people who have large cabinet humidors.
