Daniel Moevus Humidor

I was recently gifted a Daniel Moevus 100 ct glass top Macassar humidor. It has a Cigar Master automatic humidification unit in it. However, I want to be able to make sure that my cigars are humidified at a constant humidity. I have been using a 50/50 solution that I purchased at a local cigar shop. I am currently not using a hygrometer. I have heard people raving about the Radio Shack digital hygrometer with remote sensors. The reason that I have been hesistant to purchase a hygrometer is because I have no idea where to place it. I don't particularly want to stick it on the inside of the glass. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Glasstops are very nice but they do have that disadvantage. I would not have a permanent place for it cause it may get in the way of your cigars soon. I'll just place it anywhere where i can glance at it without opening the humi. Hope that helps.

Re: Daniel Moevus Humidor

Buy a thin hygrometer (The Caliber III is nice if the Radio Shack is out, and takes up very little space). I just place it in my top tray, displaces 1 or 2 cigars at most. And I would recommend buying some humidity beads and $hitcanning the 50/50 solution. You can find the thread with details in the cigar accessories forum. Good luck!

Re: Daniel Moevus Humidor

Thanks for the advice guys. I will definitely go take a look at my local Radio Shack for the digital humi and for the beads online. Quick question: Should I sell the current humidor that I have and get one that can store more cigars? I think it can fetch some money that would allow me to get a humi much larger in size.

poloboy, if you are falling in love with cigars, and you are planing on hanging around here for a while, I would recomend you buy a much bigger humidor than what you think you'll need. Because before you know it you will have a lot of cigars that you wanna try, then you buy a box or two of what you liked, then someone will tell you that they are great with some age on them, so you buy another box or two just for aging, then someone else introduces you to cuban cigars, then you will start getting addicted to that habanos flavor and before you know it you are sliding down the dark slippery slope at full speed with no brakes!
Keep this one and buy another one!

Sounds good. I will hang on to this one and buy another one once this one is full.

Bought the Radio Shack digital hygrometer today and will be ordering some 65% beads shortly. I can't wait to get it all setup and running. Thanks for all the help guys.

Re: Daniel Moevus Humidor

I would definately buy a bigger Humi. Atleast a 300 count or larger. You will keep buying and buying. The Hydrometerat Radio Shack is perfect.

Re: Daniel Moevus Humidor

As soon as I start my summer job and start getting a steady cash flow I will start purchasing cigars like a fiend and most likely buy another humi, but until then I have to live like a starving student.
