Sick Humidor headaches. Is this spanish cedar?

I'm trying to find a place that will sell "legit" humidors. I just bought this not too long ago from humidorhaven.com

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...n/IMG_1809.jpg

Turns out I think its garbage. It seals perfectly, but smells like pine. It doesn't smell like the humidor I had before, a very nice spanish cedar smell, and my cigars just tasted better after resting in it. All my cigars taste worst being in this humidor from humidorhaven. And now all my cigars and beads stench of it. Some of my fav cigars in my humi taste like . I've let it air out for a week now, and have lightly sanded, still stinks.
So that is the last time I buy from some "other" place thats not recommended here on CS.

Right now I'm looking at cheaphumidors.com, www.cigarmony.com humidors. Is it possible to go wrong there?
And yes I'm buying a cooler now but still want a 200-500 ct desktop humi.

I'm looking http://www.cheaphumidors.com/Merchan...roduct_Count=1
Anybody own that, is it any good?

Dave is the owner of Cheaphumidors and they are great as well as customer service oriented.

I have bought a few humis from the "imperfects" and found them great

If you use cheaphumidors, don't even mention wiping down a humidor with distilled water if you talk to them.

Alot of people think that wiping down humi is asking for trouble, as far as warping the spanish cedar.

Thanks guys, just want to buy a humi that will work .
Doesn't seem like any has ever had problems with them.

Actually, the guy on the online support function on the website that puts you realtime with a tech support guy made me feel like a real dummy for even asking back when i bought my first glasstop from them.

I was in one of theose times when you want 50 different opinions for a question that is actually fairly obvious.

I've since bought a couple more products from cheaphumidors and had nothing but great customer service and products.

Re: Humidor headaches. Is this spanish cedar?

I wipe my humidors down and never had a problem. I think where people have problems doing that is that they use slopping wet rags that basically soak the cedar(too much water). When I did mine I used a very light amount of water on some folded up paper towels. The water soaked completely into the cedar in about 1 minute. I really only did it to give it a little head start for when I put the beads in it...Just my

Re: Humidor headaches. Is this spanish cedar?

They told me I could do it. That they state that so idiots (ok, perhaps I am over the top there) I mean people that are not familiar with what water does to wood would not saturate the wood making it warp. ALso, it is stated everywhere so people do not warp their Humi's and then send them back because they are no good (They ARE good but the general pop. does not know these things that you learn here at CS.....BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH.....

Here's mine from CheapHumidors.com

I've never had a problem using moist paper towels to lightly dampen the cedar. How much water would you have to dump in there to make it warp

Well, what I meant was that it is the human condition to over-do everything. You have to keep in mind that on cheaper humidors the cedar lining is not all that thick, and when you put so much water on it, it soaks all the way through and if there is more water than the cedar can absorb, you have problems...

Re: Humidor headaches. Is this spanish cedar?

Thanks to those who helped.
Contacted humidorhaven.com, they got back to me right away. They said they will be fixing the problem even well after the return policy.
So thumbs up to their customer care.
