Vinotemp 28-Bottle Wine Cooler

I thought I'd pass this on, I picked up a Vinotemp 28-Bottle Wine Cooler yesterday at Target for $179.00. Target is running them on a temporary price reduction ( $20.00 off ) until sometime later this month (October 29th I think). I set mine up at the 66 degree max temp and after 1 day it is still holding at 68 degrees F and 65% RH. I have 70% RH beads on order from Heartfelt as well as some Spanish Cedar for shelves and will see how things go over the next week. I'll update after everything is set up. I just wanted to let ya'll know about the price break in case anyone was looking for one.

Rick

PS - Has anyone here ever used an appliance timer for the entire cooler instead of one of the Temp controllers? I was wondering how that might work to control temp/condensation. I've read the threads where you use the timer for a fan inside the cabinet. Thanks,

What are you trying to accomplish by 'timing' the cooler power on and off? It will run as needed to control the temp by virtue of the thermostat.

You're right, what I was referring to was that some of the wine coolers seem to run a bit cooler than what might be optimal for cigars. This may not be an issue though for me if this thing keeps running as it has so far. I might be lucky that it's in the ballpark of 70 degree F. Thanks,

Rick

Understood. When I bought my wine cooler I bought the one with the warmes setting I could find. Stays a comfy 68F and seems to be working pretty well for me.

Mine seems to doing a great job with temp holding around 68 degrees. I haven't got the humidity up high enough yet, It's staying around 62%. I've got a half pound of heartfelt beads in there with a couple of the heartfelt tubes as well. I've got another half pound of beads should be here any day. Can't wait to be able to start stocking it!

Try moving your guage around to see how evenly the humidy is spread. I discovered that a fan really helps to even out the RH in mine, but then again my unit is larger and compressor driven so that might have a bit to do with it.
I use an Oasis to help get the RH back up quickly after the compressor runs and the humidity drops. Then it cuts out and the beads take over.

Cool. I bought one for my gf to use for wine after I decided not to use it for cigars. Now I can get 20 bucks back.
