Humidifier in Otterbox

I recently purchased a 5 stick Otterbox to throw in my briefcase. Question is how often do I have to rewet the tiny little humidifier with the 50/50 solution? The thing is so small I cant see how it would last too long.

Re: Humidifier in Otterbox

I've got a 5 stick otter box. I have never used the credo. The box is suppose to be water tight to 100 feet so I assume the seal is good. I've used it for up to three days at a time and never had a problem with cigars drying out.

You should be able to use a basting needle if one of the plastic pumps (you can get where they sell credo's) won't fit.

Re: Humidifier in Otterbox

That credo should be good for a week. I have an otter box and when on business trips my cigars stay good for a week. No Problem.

Re: Humidifier in Otterbox

I just took two sticks out of the box today and they were wet...I mean spongy. I just put them in yesterday when I added some 50/50. I think Im going to try your suggestions and not use the credo at all.

Re: Humidifier in Otterbox

Might I suggest a small "drymistat" tube. You could put it in place of one of the cigar spaces, or elsewhere if there is room. I find these do a pretty good job of humidification, and will last a long, long time without refilling. (Especially in that small of an environment).

You can get them just about anywhere, and they're only about 8 bucks. When not using it in the otterbox, you can just throw it in your regular humidor as a supplement to your normal humidification.

Read all about it:

Re: Humidifier in Otterbox

I agree with the not using any thing at all. I have left cigars in mine for about a week before with no problem at all. I ran into the same problem when I first got mine, I decided to use the humidification device and the cigars seemed to get to moist. If you have a cigar that is not in cello it will leave a water mark on the cigar, and that is not good.

Re: Humidifier in Otterbox

Does the same hold true for the larger otter boxes? We have the 32 count..

Re: Humidifier in Otterbox

I'll second the drymistat tube--that is what I use. I have the Otter 15 capacity (same ridiculously small foam disc as the 5 cap) as well as the travel. The tube works excellently, though it cuts the capacity of the traveler down 20%. Of course, the humidity is perfect.

I only wish that these were made by Pelican case instead--once I take the fiver on a plane it is a real bitch to get it open. Though that does give me comfort in the seal

Re: Humidifier in Otterbox

I got the 10 count otter box. Thats what I take underway on the submarine with me. If you all don't know on a sub we use a chemical called amine that stinks up EVERTHING. I can wash uniforms 10 times and they will still come out smelling like it. The otter box is the only thing that will keep my stogies fresh and moist. I live by it underway. (And brings em back fresh from overseas... )

I kept my poopie suits when I got out because they're great for painting or working under the car. I found one that I had just packed in a box about 3 years after I got out and it still stank like amine.

If the devil ever ripped one right by me it would smell like amine.
