weird hygros

Hi guys,

Did some searching on here but couldnt find any matches to my query.

I have two digital hygrometers, one is adjustable, one is not.
I checked the accuracy of both in a 75.5% Boveda bag... one read 76... the other 75.... leaving me pretty content.

The weird starts now - I put them both in my 100 count humidor (top quality, well sealed, spanish cedar) and checked them after 24 hrs.

One read 68% and the other 61%.... leaving me utterly confused.

They werent more than 3 inches apart and there were no dividers or cigars between them - just free space.

Any clues by you experienced botls on wtf is going on??

Was one closer to the humidifier. Switch thier position and see if you notice the same difference, if so it's probably the humidity, if not it might be the hygrometer, re-test.... my I'm sure others could offer different ideas.

I have found a few makes of hygrometers that are not linear in the inaccuracy. They may be 1 or 2 points off at 75% but are as much as 7 points off at 65%. I have only found two that are this way so it is rare. Do the test Dgar suggested and see what you get.

Good idea on the test - will do.
The adjustable hygro is one I bought from Heartfelt (I'm Rob from Australia) and the other is one I've had for years - clearly I trust (though I hardly trust hygros anyway) the newer adjustable one over the old one.
My initial thoughts were the same - a problem with linearity in measurement at the lower humidity level... I just didnt know if my hunch was valid.
Also, the "humidification device" was a tube of heartfelt beads that was pretty much between (and slightly lower in level) the two hygros.
