Humidity issue part III

Well, I am having humidity issues in my wine cooler again and I'm not entirely sure why. A little background, I have a wine cooler and a cigar oasis. I have the CO set to 65% and I already did the salt test on the hygrometer and it works fine. I am sitting at 70% and I cannot figure out why. I plugged the drain hole in the cooler a few weeks ago and all was well and all of a sudden it spiked again. I searched for topics before posting again, but none I saw gave me the answer I was looking for, can anyone help? Thanks

Re: Humidity issue part III

Any new sticks added ? ... many retailers store or ship sticks on the wet side of the specrum, so that would add humidity. I believe that a cigar oasis has no way to take humidity out of the air ... only to put it in & wait for the humidity to decrease enough naturally to add more..... and though I don't have one, I would assume that it can add humidity just due to the cigar oasis reservior, especially in such a closed environment like a cooler.

I'd grab some 65% beads to toss in there, either by their selves, or along with the CO. That would help take humidity our of the air as well as put it in. Should keep things more constant.

Yeah, I've added a good amount of "wet sticks". I also have 1/2 lb of dry beads to help soak up humidity and it does not seem to be helping.

Have you calculated the volume of the inside of the wine cooler? You might need more than a 1/2 lb. Maybe 1 lb. or so.....

Yeah, I have. 1/2 lb is plenty. I have a smaller cooler, only 12 bottle.

The CO is probbably overkill, i have a 28 bottle and just use 65% beads, and i just recharged them for the first time since i set it up about 3 months ago. try removing the CO and see what happens, since the beads are dry you may want to wet them up a it

I tried using just beads and it was not working for me, that's why I went to the CO. What a headache, LOL.

You can allways put it back in there.

I'm not too savy on wine cooler setups, but I also wonder about condensation in any electric cooling device. I think removal of the CO for a week and wetting 60% or so of the beads would tell you if you have the problem solved or not.

What didn't work with just the beads ? ... under humidified ? is the humidity consistant in different areas of the cooler, or is one section high, while another is low ?

The humidity was too low and I have 2 oust fans in there, I don't know. I added the CO and all was well, then I added a bunch of wet sticks and now it's stuck at 70.

Then it just sounds like in needs time to even it'self out ... to draw the humidity out of the sticks & find a ballance again. my

Re: Humidity issue part III

what about taking those "wet sticks" out and dry boxxing them for a bit, then adding them back in,see if it returns to normal levels when they are not present.

Re: Humidity issue part III

Dry box is where you put them in a box and just leave them out a few days, right?

Re: Humidity issue part III

Ya,just so they will lose the excess humidity and then you can re-enter them back into your wine cooler.
