Digital Hygrometers
Hi there peeps:
I'm looking to get a hygroset adjustable hygrometer from either cigarmony or heartfelt and was wondering how well these units hold up. I'm satisfied that they're pretty accurate and of good quality my question is how long does the battery hold up? I read reviews where people say the batteries supplied with it are cheap and run out quickly.. can any one using one verify this? How long do the batteries last? is it a good idea to put in fresh batteries right outta the box? |

Re: Digital Hygrometers
I would think they'd be good for at least 3 to 6 months when new, if not longer. They come with the plastic protective strip which you pull off to enable the contacts to hit the battery, and get things going, so they'd still be pretty fresh.
Do the salt humidity test, adjust it accordingly and in about a month or two (six month recalibration interval is the norm), repeat the salt test to reassure yourself. The key, I would think, is to monitor the temp and RH readings regularly to note any wild fluctuations that raises the flag. On the other hand, if it'll make you feel better, go ahead, change the battery - take another variable out of the picture. No harm! |

Re: Digital Hygrometers
I have read somewhere that a low battery would cause abnormal readings. So like ritan stated, if you are concerned simply switch the battery out when you receive it.
It is very important to calibrate it before you use it in your humi. I use three of them, and all of them were about 4 to 5% off from the factory. According to Viper this is somewhat normal but easily corrected.

Re: Digital Hygrometers
The battery lasted me at least 6 / 9 months but if will make you sleep better then change it. Doesn't cost much to do.

Re: Digital Hygrometers
These hygrometers are great. I got mine this past Christmas and just now had to replace the battery about a week ago, so it lasted 10 months. Love the adjustable feature, so you don't have to remember that it reads +/-3%, you always get an accurate reading.

Re: Digital Hygrometers
Where did you guys get the new battery?? Mine is about 6 months old and is probably ready to change soon. Did you recalibrate after battery replacement?

Re: Digital Hygrometers
Come to think of it judging by the product description and the purpose it serves shouldn't the batteries last a year or two atleast?

Re: Digital Hygrometers
I've had the adjustable hygrometer going for a little over a year now without need to replace the battery. If I had to purchase one over again, I would chose the same hygrometer.
Good luck with your purchase! |
