Surface mounted Hygrometers

My buddy and I are building a couple wall mount humidor cabinets, and would like to install digital hygrometers on the surface of the doors. I'm having trouble finding such a beast, anybody got a lead for one?

Re: Surface mounted Hygrometers

Go to www.elighters.com and check out the Visol digital hygrometer that is listed under humidifiers. This might be what you are seeking. One of the members here, ArturoFuente, had a thread about this item and mounted one in a humidor of his. You might want to read the thread and possibly pm him to see how the hygrometer has worked out. Hope this helps. Paul

Re: Surface mounted Hygrometers

The small rectangular digital hygrometers from Heartfelt and Cigarmony come with a magnet mount on them. There is a little piece of metal that sticks to the surface with adhesive square, and the hygro has a magnet on the back of it. I switched mine to a little piece of Velcro. It works like a charm!

The problem with these is that they cannot be mounted external to the humidor since some of the air inlets are on the front of the hygrometer. That one that I mentioned is designed to be mounted into a hole on the outside of the humidor just like the analog ones are commonly done. I agree with you, I love those ones you mentioned.

Re: Surface mounted Hygrometers

Thanks for the reply guys. Yeah, Taltos has in mind what I need, an external mounted unit to read from the outside what's registered from the inside.
I like the looks of this one http://www.elighters.com/vac701.html, or I wonder if this one, http://www.elighters.com/dchm.html, works the same way?

I wasn't really thinking external surface mount. That would prolly make more sense in a cool custom humi.

Mando... listen to taltos, those would definitely be way cooler.

That second one is just a conventional hygrometer that sits inside the humidor. Also, touch base with ArturoFuente as far as his luck with the Visol has been.

Re: Surface mounted Hygrometers

Well......I haven't found a suitable hygrometer yet. I e-mailed "Elighters" about the one in question, http://www.elighters.com/vac701.html , and was told that it was an inside mount only. Just thought I'd give an update for reference.

Re: Surface mounted Hygrometers

Check out Target, they have a small digital weather station. It's just a bit larger than a standard Hygrometer, but it also does temp and Bar pressure, I belive.

www.Target.com

It comes with a 10' plug in sensor, so you can run it inside the humidor without opening the door. It was about 10 bucks when I last saw it (about 2 weeks ago). I would have gotten it for my coolidor, but I just got one off of Cbid.

I personally think they are smoking crack. Thats identical to what they have built into this:http://www.elighters.com/vhud73.html.

I'd buy it just to find out.
