Here’s my question about the “Humidipak One-Step Calibration kit”.
I recently purchased 3 digital hygrometers from Heartfelt. With one of them I bought the add-on Calibration Kit. I have had 4 hygrometers in the sealed bag with the Humidipak packet that is supposed to bring the RH in the bag to 75.5% for 48 hours. I think mine is defective because all 4 hygrometers that are in the pouch are reading 70% after 48 hours of being in there… Am I doing something wrong here? Please help. Thanks. |

Re: Humidipak One-Step Calibration kit
Hmmm... I would try one at a time maybe? Doubt all four could be off by 5.5%

Re: Humidipak One-Step Calibration kit
I'm having a similar issue, also with heartfelt. I put my analog and digital hygrometers in the bag and it's been 24 hours with them reading 79% exactly.
The weird thing is I did a salt test a while ago while waiting for my kit to arrive and my digital read 71% after a full day. I'm going to leave them in there for another day and see what happens. Luckily I have my beads in my humidor so I'm not too worried. I put 4 ounces in when my measurements said I only needed one. |

Re: Humidipak One-Step Calibration kit
With the Cal Kit I go for at least 36 hours before I really care what it says. As far as more than one hygrometer in the kit at a time it is OK to put in as many as will fit.
Bear, it is very possible for the hygros that you have tested are off by 5%. Just add 5% to the reading you get when the hygro is in your humidor and you will know what the rh in there is. When you compare the results to the results you got with the salt test I would definately have more trust in the Cal Kit. The mixing of the salt is so critical to the final results. With digital hygros as well as analog them being off by 6, 7, 8% is not unusual. The good thing is that digitals will at least repeat the inaccuarcy where most analogs will drift changing how far off they are. Go for the 36 hours and see what you get.

I also had trouble until I hit the reset button after adjusting the dial, and then it was right.
If your isn't adjustable, ignore me. |

Re: Humidipak One-Step Calibration kit
It's been well over 36 hours now and my hygros are both reading jumping from 78 to 79%. the temperature has been around 65 constantly. I think the analog might actually be a tad closer to 75 though, right now it looks to be at 76-77. Strange that it's more accurate than the digital at this point.
Question. Why does it take so long? Does it take 36+ hours for the humidty to be created in that small environment? or does it take that long just for the hygrometer to read it? |

I have always wondered if these worked or not. Have any of you done a review or tested these yet?

Re: Humidipak One-Step Calibration kit
i used the calibration kit that came with my adjustable hygro. after 30+ hours it read 66%, so i made the adjustments and put it back in the bag. after another 24 hours it was holding steady at 75%. they seem pretty reliable and worth the $3.
