Left Humidor Open

Whoops. I got home from a weekend out of town on Sunday to find that I had left my smokes sitting out in the open since Friday.

It's a Cuban Crafters 75 ct. desktop

When I got home I recharged my beads (heartfelt aluminum dealie) and shut 'er up. I think humidity in my house was low 40s, but it could have been even lower.

Unfortunately I keep my gerbils in that bad boy, so I'm a lot concerned about long-term effects.

It's now been almost 5 days since then and the humidity has climbed to the low 60s.

Looking back, I probably should have removed the smokes and put them in my cooler (which is balanced at around 67%) and re-seasoned my desktop. Ahh well, process is well under way now.

Can anyone think of any problems I could face as a result of doing what I did?

If this topic has been created before, I couldn't find it, but would love a link.

Thanks

Good question... I doubt it got colder than the mid-60s and this morning it was at 73.

I would agree, no need to panic. Cigars are not steaks.

Re: Left Humidor Open

Cigars are pretty tough the humidity in the house was probably a decent level anyway. No worries brother.

Re: Left Humidor Open

If anything you were probably better off leaving the cigars in the humi instead of moving them to the cooler. That way if the cigars had been to dry they could get rehumidified slowly

Thats my thoughts on it too..any time I read anything on TRYING to re hydrate really dry sticks its always saying the same thing "to go slowly" when adding RH...I think you will be fine!!

No problem.

Just re humidify them for a week or so and they will be perfect.
