Looking for opinions on a few humis

Well, what with Christmas coming and my better half asking what she can get for me, I'm in the market for a new humidor. I was originally thinking 50- to 100-count, but I'll take the advice of so many on CS and plan bigger with the caveat of maintaining the "under $200 after shipping and the lower the better because I can buy you more cigars to fill it with" budget. Now we're at 150 to 300 counts, and a few that I that I like are the following:

200 Count 7-Drawer "Executive" Mini-Cabinet
http://www.thompsoncigar.com/default...8&page=product

175 Count 5-Drawer "Millionaire" Mini-Cabinet
http://www.thompsoncigar.com/default...8&page=product

300 Count "Treasure Dome" Humidor
http://www.cheaphumidors.com/Merchan...roduct_Count=0

300 Count "Ravello" Humidor
http://www.cheaphumidors.com/Merchan...roduct_Count=1

Does anyone have any opinions, or better yet any experience with any of these four humis? I know Thompsons is looked down upon in general here (to be as kind as possible ) but I do really dig the drawers. On the other hand, if it's going to be a piece of crap, well, obviously drawers alone do not a humidor make. So, does the Thompsons' "mojo" spread to the humis they sell?

Taking the disdain for Thompsons into account, I've been looking elsewhere as well. A quick search showed that plenty of people have had good experiences with cheaphumidors.com, but does anyone have any thoughts on these particular models?

One more thought I had was to look for a cheap jewelry cabinet and make it into a humidor myself, but that (a) seems like it might be more expensive and more work than is worth, and (b) kind of takes away from the girlfriend's idea of getting a set-and-ready-for-her-to-fill-for-me humidor as a Christmas present. For now I've relegated that idea to the "when I need more room...again..." pile, but if any of you would like to encourage me in that route, feel free.

Any help with these or even leads to other bargain biggies that I may not have overlooked would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Looking for opinions on a few humis

The Treasure Dome looks to provide the most usable space out of all of those and lord knows you'll eventually need it if you keep hanging out here!

Or you could just head down to Target and get a Vinotemp for $139.99+tax. They're still on sale for today only!

PS--If you order from CheapHumidors, be sure to check out their imperfect selection. Many C/S members have reported receiving humidors with zero/few very small flaws for significant discounts. They have the Treasure Dome for $119.99 right now.

Re: Looking for opinions on a few humis

I would get a nice, small desktop for your go to smokes...Something you can open up and enjoy the aroma and that looks nice on a desk or coffee table.

Then got to WalMart and get a cooler/Viper's store to get beads and start packin the coolidor!

I hung out here for a while thinking my desktop (50-75 count) would be fine. That lasted less than a year before the slope sent me rolling. I purchased a small 6 bottle wine cooler and already find myself "a bit snug in there".

+1 Infinity
I have one of these and could not be happier with it. It seals tight and the RH remains constant all the time. My cigars are always "smoke ready". It looks great and holds lots and lots of cigars!!

Re: Looking for opinions on a few humis

I have one of the treasure dome types (different wood) and I'm pleased with it. It keeps rock steady RH, but it doesn't hold 300 cigars. I have a CO XL in there and maybe 150 - 200 cigars.

I agree with Throb about a cooler in addition though for boxes...

Re: Looking for opinions on a few humis

As you get more into things you will want to store boxes of sticks. So I like the idea of a nice singles humi and a color or big box.

You will always need a nice singles humi...

If it were between those 4 choices, then I like the 300 Count "Ravello" Humidor. It looks like a nice humi but prob not the best for boxes.

Re: Looking for opinions on a few humis

I have no opinions on the ones that you are looking at, but I do have an opinion on what to do with a $200 budget. A week ago, I picked up a 100 qt Coleman cooler on sale for $54.99. I have 1.5 lbs of 65% beads in it and several hundred cigars, mostly still in boxes. I have a 100 count cherry humidor coming from the Holts sale. That and my 50-stick Otterbox are my only traditional humidors.

I think that going the cooler route plus beads would be good. You can also spend a little at Holts on a smaller humidor for the desk and some sticks to put in it. But I think that getting a coolidor up and running sooner rather than later will be better in the long run. Knowing you have some room for storage makes visits to c-bid a little easier.

Re: Looking for opinions on a few humis

I bought the dome, it works great but I never did get my smokes out of the tupperdor like planned. Ran out of space already.

Now I have the full dome and a full tupperdor. Which ever you get plan on running out of space. Plus you have to consider they don't hold what they say the can hold.

I'm either doing the wine cooler or the regular igloo type at this point, I'll use the dome for my display piece.

Re: Looking for opinions on a few humis

I got the "Millonare" from Tompson. I like the organization of a drawer type humi but this is not a good unit first the two foam humidifires that are in the bottom under the bottom drawer kept the RH poorly I was getting 82% in the bottom drawer while at the same getting 63% in the top drawer so I put a 1 oz 70% bead tube in each drawer [5 all together] and it held 67% but I have to hyrate the beads every because the seal on the humi is BAD. I f you like a drawer type find another, I don't recommed the Millionare. I'm getting a Trinadad it has 6 slightly bigger drawers [the Millionare only fits 22 of my 50 RG in each] and on top the top lifts reviling 7 partioned compartments. Also in the back there's a small door revieling a spot to put an active humidifier.
