Pics of my Edison-ador =)
I hijacked a digital camera and went crazy! My motto here is better late than never, but here are a few pics of the "Edison-ador" I created (Thanks Rick!). I took out the wine shelving and cut this closet shelving to fit the humidor. You can see where I placed the fan, (right under the top rack facing the back, how many boxes it will probably hold, etc. I've cleaned the living hell out of this thing and I'm going to re-load with cheap stogies on Saturday. Will let you know what happens. The last one is a pic of my mug so you can see who you're talking to! Thanks to Grimball for "doctoring" these to fit...

Re: Pics of my Edison-ador =)
Very nice! Have you gone through the pain of totaling up the material cost? Your time doesn't count because it was fun, right? Building one of these is on my short list of things to do this year. I've got a few spanish cedar boards that I want to cut and place along the sides. When I get to that point I'll be re-reading all the threads and asking a lot of questions.

Re: Pics of my Edison-ador =)
Yes I too would like to get an idea of the cost.
This is something that I may have to look into doing.

Hey 5thDan! This is from a previous thread.. I have a 52 bottle Magic Chef. It cost me $150. The fan was like $17, digital timer was $20, AC-DC plug around $15 or so. The temp unit was $60. 1 pound of 65% RH beads were $30.....What am I missing....Women's hose....$1. Look from cashier as I was purchasing women's hose: PRICELESS. So the setup cost for me around $300. So far I'm pretty happy with it...I mean, I love my stogies and I'm gonna be saving some bucks on my AC bill this summer. To me it's worth it... The time spent prepping it it was fun. Basically it was a lot of cleaning it. Most everybody does that before hand, (unlike some people.... ). But I put a pound of beads in the stockings on top and bottom and I was reading 65% within a day or so. The temp and RH from top to bottom pretty much stayed regulated and balanced. Pretty simple...but yeah, fun too... |

Wow that looks great, its stylish and looks like it can hold a good amount of sticks. I'm seriously considering building one of these instead of just purchasing a typical humidor.

Re: Pics of my Edison-ador =)
Looks like a very nice setup. Great job. I've got to break down and get one; I'm tired of running the AC all the time.
