They can be made a bit more effective by carefully cutting away the plastic in front of the fan blade, perhaps using a Dremmel with a cutting bit. The only other improvement I would add is a rechargeable battery, do they make D cell rechargeables?

Don't forget... don't install the "stink" module.
Yes, the do make D rechargeables. I have MANY.
Parents would be broke without them!

On the shopping list. Thanks. There is something that bugs me about throwing out those big lunkers.

Re: Oust fan

The 4 Oust Fans that I have in use look like this. They are much more efficient with the front cover removed. Also the bottom cap should be removed because without the front cover it will not stay in place correctly. I use a rubber band to hold the battery in place. Note: a quality battery will last at least 10 to 12 months.

LEOinFL

I just found the reason for the Clearance!!!!!!
I just spent all damned night driving to Walgreens, CVS, WalMart, Target.......... to find that the ones on clearance were all gone. I finally stopped at a grocery to get some beer to settle my nerves after the mission was aborted.... and what did I spy?????? Oust Fans!!!!

I found out these are discontinued from a stocker at the store who heard me griping about my trek as I grabbed the last two .

Get 'em while ya can fellas.
I find it odd that they would discontinue these, but a stocker at the grocery said they did.
So, it's got to be true, right?
