B&W - Type 20 Outdoor Case
I realize there are many herfador/travel case threads, but I've never seen this case mentioned. The one benefit I see with this line is that they have an air-pressure compensation valve. The X-treme line doesn't seem to have this. I travel frequently, and haven't figured out what I want/need in a travel case. Any input appreciated.

I think this would work okay once you figured out some kind of humidification and foam separators for long term storage/travelling.

Re: B&W - Type 20 Outdoor Case
Thanks for posting the link Khubli. I could use a 1 oz tube of beads for humidification. I read many people pull out all the foam from their cases anyway. Thoughts on that? I also read there are replacement foams that are better for cigars than what comes in the X-Treme humi's.

Re: B&W - Type 20 Outdoor Case
I think it would be nice to line the inner surfaces with 1/4" 3/8" open cell foam. I hate the idea of the smokes bouncing around inside the case against a hard surface.
I've got cigar caddy 15 with 2 foam separators. The rub is if I don't want to fill the case up completely, I've got dead space that the cigars can bounce around in. I'll back bubble wrap in there to take up the dead space, but it's not the best solution. It would be easy enough to cut custom foam separators that could take up space as well. I hadn't put much thought into it. The release valve is something I'd wondered about as well. Pelican cases I'd owned in the past had them and do come in handy on hot days, but at the same time, I think cigars are going to be kept within a tighter range of temperature. But it could come in hand somewhere at sometime I imagine.

Re: B&W - Type 20 Outdoor Case
The main purpose of the release valve is for when you fly and put your caddy in your checked luggage. Some baggage compartments are not completely pressurized and the case can be hard to open when you get it back. The valve equalizes pressure again so that the case may be easily opened. Hot weather could also create a pressure differential if the case were left in a closed car.

Re: B&W - Type 20 Outdoor Case
I've never used the pressure release valve on my travel humidor--but I don't usually check my cigars, either.
That case looks like it would work fine. I usually just use foam on the bottom and top of the case (taking out the inserts) and keep the cigars in either singles or 5-finger baggies.
