I also own an Aristocrat Plus. I know that they are a little more money, and you should go with what your budget can allow, but I have to say that I'm very pleased with mine. Not only does it look awesome, but it performs flawlessly. You can set your humidity preference and it will keep it +-1 degree. I look at it as an investment, as it has enough capacity for more cigars than I will ever have at one moment in time, and it is so well constructed that it should last for a generation or two. My aristocrat is my last humidor purchase. As mr c told me once when i asked a similar question "You do get what you pay for."

I am getting close to out growing the coolerdor and was looking at these guys:

http://www.cigarsolutions.com/AvalloHumidors.html

Top25Cigar did a write up on their humi system. Looks like they are top notch in the quality dept. and are comparable in the price category when oasis, fans, etc. are added to the less expensive units in this thread.

Thought I'd share.

<edit> just reread the first two posts and saw that these were already mentioned, never mind.</edit>

Thanks to Nely, I too own an Aristocrat (picture posted under the photos section).
Everything these guys have said and then some.
Unlike some of the many others that may be cheaper, the Aristocrat is truly a work of art and is of incredible quality.
The set and forget humidificaition is flawless and appears to be of better quality than the Avallo.
Definitely an issue if budget is a factor but well worth every penny.

P.S.
I want to personally thank Citibank for extending the home equity line of credit from where I was able to tap some funds.

Take a look at Bob's comparison on his site to the Avallo in terms of features.

SOLD! I will have to wait a little longer as the Aristo is more up-front than what I had budgeted for but DAYUM I had no idea how much more Bob offered for the money and never knew what I was settling for with the other ones.

As some of you might know, I am a dealer for Avallo Humidors. Would it be proper for me to comment on the comparison page?

Re: Cabinet Humidor Suggestions?

Actually I would be interested in a real comparison page. It doesn't really state what cabinet they are comparing it to. Also while I would like a solid wood cabinet, do I really need a solid wood cabinet? I've looked at the Avallos and they do have good prices but right now if I was to get a cabinet, I would probably get a Manassas or Antietnam from bargainhumidors or the Connoisseur from cheaphumidors. I know I'm not getting a solid, wood heirloom but for the price it's hard to beat. If I wanted an heirloom I would probably go with an aristocrat or other solid-wood heirloom, lifetime warranty cabinet.

But it would be nice to have an unbiased comparison page comparing the avallos, the aristocrats, and the Manassas/Anitietnam/Connoisseur cabinets.

Re: Cabinet Humidor Suggestions?

A retailer shouldnt post a comparison page on a cigar board. That should be left to the members. Some retailers/humidor makers are so biased, that the truth goes out the window on their comparison charts.

Re: Cabinet Humidor Suggestions?

I am going to reply to that comparison chart. It was said by another member that the chart was comparing the A*********t to the Avallo, so I will take his word.
1) We do NOT use "just another hygrometer"The Accumonitors accuracy is calibrated by Avallo using the Boveda Pack product. There is absolutely no arguing with the fact that the Boveda is scientifically proven to be accurate. I have had Bovedas tested with high dollar lab equipment, and the results were as advertised. The Avallo Accumonitor is easy to calibrate at home, as well as at the Avallo factory. All hygrometers/humidification systems can lose their accuracy. The Accumonitor allows you to recalibrate at home with a $4 retail item. If our competitors system drifts in its accuracy, it must go back to the shop. There is no at home recalibration feature in our competitors product.

2) warranty is 2 years. If you cant match performance and price, offer a longer warranty. That choice is up to the consumer.

3) As pointed out, the doors and trim are made of MDF, as well as the body of the cabinet. Matt makes them out of MDF because its a trouble free product for humidor construction. Our competition fails to mention that the main body of his cabinets are MDF also.

4) Regarding finish, I bet that woodworkers can argue all day over which is better. I have seen both, and I like them both. Just a biased opinion in my biased opinion.

5) My favorite is the sport bottles. From the beginning of its design, Matt wanted to provide even humidification throughout a cabinet. It was decided that multiple canisters in a cabinet would give more even humidity than just 1 large canister in the bottom corner. Simply put, you cant fit 4 large canisters in a cabinet, it would take up too much room. If you would prefer 1 canister, matt can build it that way. its actually much easier for him to provide one, but Matt is not looking for the easy way out on his humidification system. It was also said that the Fans were underpowered. HMMMM, we use the same size fans as the competition. Might be a small differance between brands, but this is nonsense.

My point in all this is everyone has an opionion. Check out each cabinet carefully. Decide if the electronics are most important to you. Maybe the wood choices are most important. Maybe the price is the most important factor. Bottom line is dont believe a bunch of retailing BS.

Re: Cabinet Humidor Suggestions?

I've had an Avallo 2000 for about a year now and can't begin to say enough good things about what a top quality piece of furniture it is. Ron is right about the Accumonitor - IT ROCKS!!!

Matt & Ron's customer service is bar none too - NO JOKE!!! Sometimes TOO good, if that's possible.

Avallo (and cigarsolutions) definitely has a big thumbs up from me.

With all due respect, can it be said that since you are a vendor for the Avallo, we have now heard your retailing BS?

Personally, I think they are both nice and both offer differences. I personally ended up preferring the look of the Aristocrat and the match to my office furniture but did come very close to ordering an Avallo.

I cannot say enough good things about Bob. He was always attentive to any inquiries and shipped my humi ASAP. The quality is superb.

My hat off to both the Avallo and the Aristocrat as they are both two nice humidors. Can't go wrong either way.

yes, you could say that my opionion is BS. but you could never prove it. there is not one thing that i said that was untrue. I did point out a few things on that chart that were untrue about the Avallo.
