I've got three and I have never had a problem. I'm in the market for one or two more. The SLOPE has got me in a bad way my friends.

So it looks like one of them is -1 and the other is +2 - doesn't sound that bad to me. Within 2% RH you should be fine.

My only concern is that one read 74% Rh and one read 77% Rh , after Boveda calibrating them with calibration pack (done twice), but the temp was the same.

Supposedly they are within 1% +/-, but alas are reading 2-3%Rh off EACH.

Any chance bargainhumidor will exchange them??? at least the 77% one...

Next time I might go with an adjustable from heartfelt etc...

Will keep you posted.

(These are NOT adjustable, nor read out to a decimal, but love the size and ease of use.)

I have four of them and they all read slightly differently. Just remember what each reads and add or subtract that 2-3%. I marked mine with a silver sharpie to remind me of what % they are off. I would also do a regular salt test on them.

Not a fan of boveda. They are a waste of good money, imo.

Was wondering why you do not care for the Boveda Humidipak to calibrate your hygros?

They claim to be more accurate than the salt test.

I'm new to all of this so just looking for some reliable info.

For the same reasons listed in the links to your thread.

Re: Western Caliber III Digital Hygrometer

Those threads are funny.

I actually don't like the salt test. From my experience, if you add too much water or not enough water your results are different (again just my experience).

I don't have a problem with the calibration kit or the Boveda RH packets. I tested all 10 of my Western Digitals using the RH kit and they were all within +/- 1% of 75%.

When I throw them into my humidors with 65% beads, the hygrometers are right on (within the error range). That is good enough for me.

The only other comment I have on the calibration kit is that you need to let the hygrometers stay in there for at least 24 hours.

We would be happy to test and replace for you if one or both are defective. They are covered under a 5 year warranty by Western Humidor. If you have a Caliber II/III and it is not working right call us at 800-776-0096 to set up a return. Better to get the digital hygrometer you already PAID for ONCE replaced for the cost of shipping one way than go with a generic digital that is not as accurate and does not have a warranty. They cost the same anyway, you do the math.

I hope to hear from you soon Tom and anyone else that may have a Caliber II or III that is not working correctly.

Life is short, enjoy a cigar today!
