Oust fan placement in Vinotemp

I'm looking for input on where I should place my oust fans in my vino. I have three shelves fairly evenly spaced top to bottom. Should I put one fan on each shelf? How about front or back of the vino on each shelf?

Any input would be appreciated!

Re: Oust fan placement in Vinotemp

id say one at the source of the humidity, if you have a unit on the bottem, have it angled so it will distribute the entire vinotemp.
but like many will say.. putting a FEW in will only help.
for me.. id just have one angles up near the source if its the bottem, or the middle to keep it flowing

Question . . . if humid air rises wouldn't you want to blow air from top down to the bottom? This would send the more humid air back down to mix with the less humid air.

I recently added a hydra and a few fans to my 300 count humi and when I had one of the fans blowing upward the humidity on the top was much higher than on the bottom. When I switched the fan so that it was blowing down the top and bottom of the humi read about the same.

Re: Oust fan placement in Vinotemp

what are you using for humidification? if you are using beads i would place then fan blowing down away from the beads, because the extra air MAY dry out the beads a lil faster...

Question Re: Oust fan placement in Vinotemp

I've got the 16 bottle Vinotemp so my humidity probably varies far less at different shelf levels than the larger ones. For curiosity sake, I put a hygro on the bottom and one on each shelf and the RH didn't vary by more than +-1%. So for now, I'm happy w/o any fans, but with a smaller unit such as mine (gee that doesn't sound good at all) I think one fan would be more than adequate to circulate the air. I may pick one up for S&G.

Are these http://www.oust.com/product.aspx?oust=smallSpace what you are using and just leaving out the scent containers?

Do the fans run continuously?

Re: Oust fan placement in Vinotemp

Picked up one of the fans shown above yesterday while at the grocery store with my wife. If these can be purchased without the scent unit, I'd strongly recommend it as opposed to this one. The fan and the battery both have the aroma of the scent container. I let it sit outside all day today and it has not yet lost that "odor". I call it an odor because in this case, it is undesirable. I'm not putting it in my Vinotemp unless it loses this odor first.

Another thing I feel worthy of mention is how little air it moves, I can barely feel it. I've also discovered that the link above is NOT for the unit in the picture I posted, which is the one I purchased. This model is no longer advertised on the Oust site and may have been discontinued. The one the link leads to does NOT have a fan. I also found that it apparently runs on a timer, since when left on the fan stops after what seems like a few minutes. I have not timed it to see how long or how frequently it runs.

This unit http://www.oust.com/product.aspx?oust=airCleaner, though it requires that you plug it into an electrical outlet, looks more promising for this purpose. But if it's packaged with the scent, I'd still be concerned about contaminating the fan.

Just hoped this may be helpful.
