how do I refill my fake replica st dupont?

I bought a few replica st duponts, mostly so I wouldn't have to carry my real duponts and they can stay in my case for safe keeping. Anyway, I seem to have gotten what I paid for because I see no way of refills these fake duponts. The gold refill fits, but doesn't quite work right and the gas never goes into the lighter.

I thought that someone on the board that has the fake lighters may have figured out what the trick is to refilling the knock offs.

Where did you purchase the lighters from? If it was from a particular vendor and not some random street merchant than I suggest that you try and contact the source of the lighters for this information. It would be hard to tell how to refill it without seeing one in real life. Maybe someone else who has a Replica will be able to help you though, good luck!

Please keep us posted on your progress here. This is an interesting situation.

In the meantime, is it possible to find one of those butane cans that has the different types of nozzle adapters molded into the cap? Since many different lighter brands have different shaped gas ports, some fuel manufacturers mold break-off adapter tips into the cap of the can. Try and find one that fits. I think it might have been Ronson that did this, but I'm not sure.

Is it a Nibo or a some sort of off the street knockoff? I've never had trouble filling the Nibos.

Vapor locked? The cheap knockoffs might be more sensitive to this than your real ST Duponts. You didn't say in your original post if you purged the lighter or not.

When your lighter is out of fuel it is very important to purge the fuel tank to ensure it is completely empty. Many of the torch type lighters popular today are very sensitive to the fuel tank being over pressurized. Purge the fuel tank by depressing the needle valve on the bottom of the lighter. If you own a real Dupont, then you should have as much insight as I could offer. I’ve never dealt with the fake one's, does the capsules screw in like the real ones? You make it sound like the capsule you’re using isn’t long enough? Maybe you need a different color capsule than your “real” Duponts?
