plastic smell from heartfelt tube?
just got my tube of beads.
put it in the humi and now all my cigars and humidor stink like plastic. i was going to remove the beads and put them in a dish but they all have the smell. it goes without saying I'm .....upset. anyone had this happen before? what can I do?

I don't have a problem with my tube.

the smell seems to be coming from the red end pieces.
and it's in all of the beads I dunno what to do. maybe wash the red pieces with soap and water and rinse the beads with the distilled

Man that sucks.
Besides soap and water on the tube, you can leave the pieces that smell in the sun a day or two. I would put the beads themselves out in the sun until they dont smell as well. I don't know about the smokes, I would put them in a baggie for a day and leave the humidor open to get rid of the odor then put them back in. I imagine that the smell will disappear eventually. The smell from fresh plastic could be solvents, monomers or polymerization agents. |

Washing the end caps won't hurt if thats what you think the problem is and since you say your humi and sticks already smell like plastic give it a few days and see what happens. I think the cedar and your sticks will over power any plastic smell. Viper gives top notch customer service. I'm sure he will take care of you.

Mine smelled like plastic for a while, but the cigars and spanish cedar overcame it, and my tupperdor is a-okay now. Just give it some time.

this smell is too strong to put in my little humi with my few stogies.
I'm not going to risk it the tube is pretty useless right now. I'm talking with someone via email and he says he'll look into it

I think the beads are ok on altbier's suggestion I boiled them for about a minute in distilled water. didn't get rid of all the smell but enough to where it's not making the whole humi smell like the tube did. so I have the beads in the humi now just can't use the tube I don't think I need a refund or anything but maybe a new tube? or just two of the red pieces that don't smell so much
