cutters

I currently am on my 3rd or 4th cheapo cutter and am tired of having to squeeze it shut. I keep buying more and more of these and they wear out after a month or two. I want to upgrade, but I don't have the cash right now to get a palio, apparently the preferred cutter here. My question is this, are there any good, solid cutters out there for $10-20?

Re: cutters

If you really don't want to save the extra $15 for a Palio, then try a Xikar from the Devil. You could score one for around $20-25

Trust me save for the extra few weeks and get the Palio. That way you never have to buy another cutter

Re: cutters

The frugal answer is that of all the cheapo's you've gone thru, you could have bought a palio or xikar right now. Either one works great, and around 35. Go ahead and get it, and you'll be saving money. (sorry that it's not answering the 10-20 question, but we're sure you'd be happier).

Re: cutters

Get a Palio. I know it cost more but it is permanent. It has been said before but if you are going to pay $10 or more for a cigar why would you not want to pay for a great cutting instrument to clip your prized sicks?

Re: cutters

If you're not averse to punch cutters I bought one of these for my keyring and was very happy. It has two sizes of cutter and the largest is plenty big for robustos, etc...

I still prefer my palio but you can't beat this price for a German Steel cutter.

They are imported my Xikar but cost more that way. This is the same cutter.

Re: cutters

If you are smoking good cigars you need a good cutter.

Put some more money in and get a Palio.

It will last you forever and our cigars will Thank You.

Re: cutters

after using one cheapo brand after another i decided to get a xikar.
I used the xikar for a while & it worked fine, but then after about a year and a half to two years of use it began slightly splitting the caps while cutting.

I've since made the switch to palio ($40 cutter) and to me i was very hesitant given the price/hype ratio, but let me tell you: IT IS THE BEST DAMN CUTTER OUT THERE. Perfect cut time after time.

save up the extra few bucks....you'll love it, and your cigars will too
good luck with whatever you choose

wait till it gets dull, it will do the same thing to the cigars that the dulling xikar will do.

Re: cutters

I recommend Cuban Crafters "Perfect Cut"

I've had it for 3 months, with not a single problem. It has a really neat backstop on it, so you get the perfect cut every time. Also has a lifetime warranty, and is only $14.99

They have a website, that you could probably find seaching for "cuban crafters perfect cut"

No reason to spend more than $10, in fact half of that will do just fine. Not all cheap cutters are created equally.

The Havana Cigar Cutter does an incredible job. They are cheap still, can be had for $5 or so now (because they are no longer made) used to be able to get them for $2 or so. I have had one in my car for 2 years now and it has made hundreds of cuts without dulling. I like my Palio a lot, but I use the Havana cutters more frequently. I stocked up on them years ago when I found out they were no longer going to be made. I haven't needed to reach into my stockpile of reserves as they have stayed SHARP. If given a choice between a free Palio and free HCC, I would still take a Palio; however I would pick a $5 HCC over a Xikar Xi series because the HCC doesn't give the blade deflection step in the middle of the cut like Xikars. Yes I said I like this cheap cutter better than a Xikar..

Found the HCC here:
http://qualitycutters.com/index.asp?...PROD&ProdID=26

The second recommendation would be a MeanSardine cutter. This is a less expensive Xikar cutter in the traditional double blade design. IMO the blades are just as good as the Xi series Xikars, AND the traditional double guilotine design reduces the blade deflection that the pricier Xikars have.

This search turned up quite a few sellers:
