The vinotemp slope

I'm taking the plunge and picking up a vinotemp (28 bottle) from Target, probably tonight, perhaps tomorrow. Since my house faces due south, even with my coolers in a back room that never gets direct sunlight, the coolers are now at 69 degrees and it has only gotten to 72 degrees here so far!

I have one question - It looks like people are putting a tupperware container along the back wall to catch humidity. Is this correct?

I already have enough beads and cedar, but am also wondering it lining the bottom with cedar from boxes is also advisable? I know not to put boxes with cigars into contact with the bottom or anything that is directly in contact with the bottom.

I have all the other bits and pieces from the expanding coolerdor collection, but anyone have any advice not offered in the Vinotemp 101 thread (http://www.clubstogie.com/vb/showthread.php?t=145674)?

Thanks!

quick edit: I plan to plug the drain as recommended.

Thanks! However, I posted a link to the thread and stated that I read it. What did I miss?

Congrats on your decesion to go Vino. I know it's a big leap but it's worth it. I too recently purchased a little silver baby and have it set with 2 lbs of 65% beads and 4 oust fans. I have not seen the slightest bit of moisture collect on the bottom yet. I say yet because the humidity here is only up to 50%. I have a cedar tray on the bottom of mine and the drainhole is open. She's holding steady at 66%in the event I start to see condensate collect I'l prob run a sheet of plastic. (like the cheap school report cover kind with the slide on spine) from the back to a small dish of beads. But so far so good.

Excellent! Thank you! We get pretty high humidity indoors during the winter (85-90%), so I want to plug the drain and set up a collection system.
