Xikar cutter problems

I bought a Xikar cutter two days ago and it has already broken. It was part of a Cohiba sampler and from the moment I started using it, has seemed to be kind of sketchy. One blade (the non-marked blade) scrapes a lot as it comes in contact with the outside section of the cutter, scrapes as it comes in contact with the second blade and drags. It is not just simple contact, it makes an audible scraping sound as they come in contact and there is a great deal of resistance.

Additionally, now the cutter will not spring apart. Once the cutter is locked together, depressing the center button will not spring the cutter apart. I have to manually pull the two blades apart before it will cut.

Also, I have not been getting clean cuts. It always leaves a little bit of hanging wrapper.

Needless to say, I will be sending it in to have it fixed/replaced but am wondering if what I am experiencing is normal, common, or something that others have experienced?

Doesn't sound normal to me, but no worries. Xikar has some of the best customer service in the business. I'm sure they will take good care of you.

I had the same exact problem with the Cohiba sampler Xikar and sent it back to Mike's Cigars for a full refund. I've had the regular Xikar cutter I've used for 2 years now with no problems whatsoever. I think the problem lies in the "Sampler" Xikar. If you want to keep the Cohiba sampler, I would send the cutter back to Xikar. I've used all of their products and they have great customer service!

Re: Xikar cutter problems

I would send back the entire back, but the sampler is missing a few sticks. A few delicious sticks.

The cutter is packed up and ready to be dropped in the mail tomorrow. I hope I will be pleased from Xikar's customer service like many others have.

Send the xikr back for replacement..I had the same thing happen and the replacement is working flawlessly. Evidently they got a bad batch of springs.

Honestly, the Palio isn't the end-all be-all it gets credit for sometimes. The Xikar have a bit of a learning curve.

No doubt we will take care of it quickly!

The Xi2 cutter in that set comes from the same "lot" as our other Xi2 cutters so I am suprised to hear of this problem. Nonetheless, I am glad to hear it so we can improve.

Enjoy those cigars and we'll get you a cutter in perfect working order in just a few days!

Call 866-676-7380 or email info@xikar.com if you have any questions.

I'm sure they will hook you up a.dickens. I've been a happy Xikar camper for many moons.

Well folks, Andy was right.

Today I just got back my cutter. Well, I didn't get it back, Xikar sent me a new one. It took exactly one week. I sent it last Saturday, and I got back a brand new one today. "Xcelent" customer service...har har har.

Just to see if it worked, I went to my B&M and cut a Padron 3000. It did. Thumbs up to a great company with awesome customer service.

Re: Xikar cutter problems

I used a Xikar for about 2 years, great cutter, but I got a Palio (early bday gift from Conch) this week, and I like that one better. Xikar has a great customer service though and I still love the XI2 I have.
