I was thinking of building a larger version loosely based on this. Granted, I have one half full humidor, and one completely empty....but I like making humidors.

Im hoping you can talk me out of this before I end up with another precisely crafted piece of firewood (Im really good at making that).
The problem is not keeping a good seal, the problem is achieving uniform humidity throughout the drawers. If you put your humidity source at the lower level, the moisture is going to have a hard time traveling up through all those slots in your drawers, and if you have a lot of cigars in there, those chaneling slots will be covered by cigars, so how is the humidity able to disperse? It won't. You will end up with high RH in the lower drawers and low RH on the top drawers. Lets do it the other way, humidity source on top drawer, same scenario, the drawers full of cigars will act as a barrier, and you will end up with high RH on top and low RH at the bottom. The only way to maintain uniformity would be with multiple humidity sources at different levels.
But hey, you are a carpenter, you can probably come up with a way to chanel humidity through the sides of the drawers with some fans. Good luck.

The humidor looks nice, but you can find one cheaper on eBay like everyone else said. I won this one a few days ago. Less than $50 shipped. It says it holds 150 cigar, so I'm going to say 75, but still, thats less than a buck a stick. Check it out here . . .

eBay humidor, 150 count for less than $50

Just doesn't make financial sense, but again, if looks are your thing, go for it and let us know how it is!
You know it's not what other people say you ought to get it is what you want, you will have to live with the decision weather it is right or wrong. Make up your own mind. What ever you get someone will criticize you for your purchase.
