Xikar Xi 744 Knife/cutter

I was looking at one of these this morning on ebay for $25 shipped, and was just wondering if any of you BOTLs had any experience with them? Mainly, does the knife actually function as a decent cutter? I like the idea, but I think it may just be gimmicky, and I'll probably just stick with my S.W.A.T. from Smith & Wesson, but I thought I'd see if anybody has any input for me. TYIA!

I like my Xikar cutter (usual type) so I suspect they make decent products. However, a friend of mine had a similar knife/cutter, probably a knock off, it was rather roughtly made. It was pretty good for crushing the tip of cigars though...

Haha.. that's pretty much what I was thinking... I want to buy a xikar.. every post I read on here, someone swears by their xikar... I just can't force myself to fork over that much money for a single function product.. If I could get a knife/cigar cutter, that's multifunctional, and I could use it every day... at least, that's how I rationalize it to myself... I'll probably just continue using the crappy cutters I got from a few samplers I bought from Thompson ( never again... only good cigars I ever bought from them were the CAO Golds, and some Felipe Gregorio samples I got free for buying the CAOs)... thanks for the input though

retail is $29 on this knife:

I have the xi118 that I love, the perfect elegant little pocket knife. I bought it in a pen and knife set a few months back at Danimal's local B&M, the quality is top notch.

Good Luck!

You wouldn't use a monkey wrench to hammer a nail, would you? Form follows function. As sharp as many of my knives are (one by Bob Terzuola), they're just not designed for cutting cigars, and I've damaged my share of them because I tried to skimp on using the right tool for the right job. It might seem a lot, but really it isn't, if you consider the alternative of ruining nice smokes. You don't have to F up many $5 'gars before a Xikar X1, X2 or X3 pays for itself.

I was kinda brought back by the price of this, but just shop around and you should find a good deal. It will be all worth when you don't have flakes of tobacco falling off in your mouth from your mangled cigar.

Xikar Xi3 Spectra . . .

Click it for a good picture

The new Spectra is the only Xikar I haven't owned..Sharp looking!

I currently own five Xikars and love them!...The lifetime warranty is the best anywhere!...The only other cutter I've owned and love just as much, if not more, is the Palio...Unfortunately, I misplaced it at work

Re: Xikar Xi 744 Knife/cutter

I've found the Xikar Xi2 for about $25.00. I'll have to hunt around for where I got it.

I think the best deal is, if you like the cigars that come with it, is the 3 cigars and Xi2 cutter gift set from the Devil's site. I paid $34.00 for it and that was about $2.00 higher than normal.

Here's one of those;

Re: Xikar Xi 744 Knife/cutter

sweet, thanks smokus... I've got that one on my watch list.. I've never tried a graycliffe or a monte, so that'd be a worthy investment for me... Unfortunately, the bid's already at $34, and it's still got 5 days left.. but we'll see what happens... thanks for the idea, I'll keep an eye on cbid...
