Three flint lighters - My impressions
I'll admit I've been on a bit of an impulse lighter buying binge of late. Don't know why, but the same thing happens to me with watches.
Three lighters I've been able to use for the past month are the IM Corona Double Corona cigar lighter, Porsche Design PD2, and a Dupont Urban which I purchased from ebay. It's even authentic and original. One thing all three have in common is they all perform very well. Good reliable flame with excellent adjustment. I am using Nibo butane for the Corona and Porsche Design and Dupont butane for the Dupont. Good flame is just that, so I'm really pleased with all three in this respect. The construction and craftsmanship of all three is very good. The Corona is the least impressive, but still very nice. It's heavy enough being brass and all parts and functions work as intended, but the overall look seems to be on a lower level compared to the other two. The Porsche Design is flawless in every respect and the flat black paint scheme gives the overall appearance of quality. Dullness hides small imperfections, I suppose. It too is quite heavy. The Dupont, in my opinion, is no better than the less expensive Porsche PD2. The fit and finish is right up there, but you'd expect this at the price point that it sells at. (Bought mine for half price new in the box). The Dupont is built like a tank. Very heavy and substantial. Almost overkill. It does feel as if it would last forever. If I had to choose just one for use, It would be the Porsche Design. It's almost perfect and the cheapest of the lot. If all their lighters are like this one, they really have a good thing going. Funny, the Nibo butane mates perfectly with the nozzle of the PD2. So perfect, I though it wasn't working. Hardly a hiss, let alone butane freezing the fingers. I really like all three, but Porsche stands out even without the price advantage. Why do I need these when a box of stick matches will do? I don't know. I never needed expensive watches either, but I do enjoy them, and that's what it's all about. I gave up on new cars years ago, so I had to pick up the slack somewhere. ![]() Okay, these were my opinions only. Larry |

Re: Three flint lighters - My impressions
I know what you mean about the watches.....
Here's the last one I bought: http://www.watchclick.com/corum/c-tr...ches-1602.html Model #: 00120.015004 (The large chronograph bracelet with the black dial, silver sub-dials, curved, engraved case, sapphire crystal) I thought it was rather unique and couldn't resist! Good info on the lighters. I'll keep that Porsche model in mind next time I shopping for one! Thanks!
