Colibri & Vector Lighter Fuel

I bought a Colibri Lighter last year and was uing Colibri Fuel in it. I thought the lighter was garbage. I would light a cigar and it would often stay lit for an extra 5 or 10 seconds. It would take several pushes to light on ocasion and the flame would burn unevenly.

I bought a big can of Vector Qintuple Refined Fuel for $4 and put it in the same lighter. Now that lighter works like you would expect it to do. If must have cleaned uip whatever was clogging it. Even the cheap lighters that I have work a lot better with the Vector Fuel.

I highly recomend the Vector Fuel.

Re: Colibri & Vector Lighter Fuel

Thanks for the tip. Although I love my Colibri lighter, it can be fickle at times. Therefore, anything that might help it work more consistently is welcomed! I was actually just about to buy some more Colibri fuel because I'm pretty low. However, if this other fuel works just as well or better then perhaps I'll give it a shot. It certainly is a heck of a lot cheaper! By the way, is the Vector refined fuel easy to find?

Re: Colibri & Vector Lighter Fuel

Thanks for the tip. I was wondering if the brand of fuel would affect a lighters performance. I have a Prometheus torch along with Prometheus fuel. The lighter works great but it appears to burn fuel way too fast.

I received a Colibri torch for Christmas. It seems to work much better using the same fuel.

Do you have an online source for the Vector fuel? If so, can you PM me?

Thanks.

I haven't tried it with my colibri yet, but this is where I bought it from. I still have Colibri fuel left and it's been working just fine so far.

I have to say that the Vector quintuple refined is a good fuel. I got a can from www.bargainhumidors.com when I ordered my Nibo triple torch. So far so good , no problems after 3 refills so far.

Highly recommended IMHO.

THe Nibo is a nice lighter. I am liking min and will probably pick up another there. I filled that with the Colibri first too. Maybe I got a bad can, but the Vector made the Nibo work better too.

Re: Colibri & Vector Lighter Fuel

I would have to go along with this. I used to use only Colibri fuel in my lighters and every now and then I would have issues with them. Then I got a can of the Vector fuel and have not had any issues since using it. I don't even get that sputter that you get from torch lighters anymore. I Highly Highly recommend this fuel.

Thanks for the link. Okay, $3.39 for 320 ml is the same as approximately 10.8 oz (if my math is correct). That's a little over three 1/2 times the amount that you get in a can of Colibri fuel at about the same price.

One thing that I imagine is pretty important to do is COMPLETELY bleed the lighter of fuel before adding a different brand.

Re: Colibri & Vector Lighter Fuel

Yea, the can of Vector is massive compared to the Colibri can. I'll get a picture of it when I can so you can see for yourself. It's definitely a much better value than Colibri fuel and since Lava doesn't seem to be available anywhere, Vector is supposed to be the next best thing.

Thanks, but the link you provided me earlier had a pic. What I didn't really understand was the funky top to the can. It looked like it had multiple valves sticking out. I'm sure it will be easy to figure out when I them. I look forward to trying and seeing if they improve my colibri lighter.

You will just use the metal valve that is built in for most lighters. There are a few adapters, but I do not know where you would use them.

Re: Colibri & Vector Lighter Fuel

My first choice for fuel now is King, I used to swear by Vector but got a bad can or two that clogged my lighters. Another great brand is Lava, but King is easier to find and cheaper.

I believe Lava Fuel has been discontinued. Where can you get King?

I haven't had a problem with using Colibri fuel in my Colibri lighter, but I started using Vector fuel because it's cheaper to buy that big ole can of Vector than to buy that scrawny little can of Colibri. It being cleaner is also a plus.

Looks like it's time to give up on my colbri, and try a can of this vector. I have a drawer full of clogged lighters.
