Safe for my sticks?

Hey im new to the forum and this is my first post and it's a question. I just bought a Humidor and i am in the process of breaking it in (seasoning it with the distilled water in a small cup) Will my cigars be ok in it for the next couple of days while this goes on?

Thanks again.

Re: Safe for my sticks?

Itīs not advisable, however if you donīt have anywhere else to put your cigars (coolerdoor etc.) go ahead. just keep a very close eye on them. Donīt let them get too humid(iīve made that mistake before). The seasoning may take a little longer because your cigars are going to suck humidity as well as the wood itself, so as I said , rather put them in another humi for about a week or so, then pass them over once seasoning is done.

The search function here at Club Stogie will point you to a ton of information.
Give it a try.

Re: Safe for my sticks?

you can put them in a ZipLock bag (double bag if you can), since the seasoning usually doesnt take more than 2 or 3 days the cigars will be fine in the bag.

Even Gladware will work when in a jam.

To season a bit quicker, always with distilled water, wipe down the inside of the humi with a clean damp(not wet) cloth. Then place a small glass of hot distilled water, heated in the microwave in the humi for 24 hours. Repeat, then let the humi come down naturally to a desirable level then place sticks and humidifier in.

Don't worry too much about short-term storage... They should be fine in a baggie.

If you get nervous about it, shower with them tomorrow!!!

I dont know about showering with them. But a baggie will definately do the trick for your short term storage.

Re: Safe for my sticks?

Like others said, I'd leave them out till the seasoning is complete.

Sorry about being a buckeyfanatic.
