Elie Bleu Humidor not working properly
I received an Elie Bleu humidor as a gift several years ago. A few months ago, after a long hiatus, I bought some new cigars and put the humidor back in service. Now I can't keep the humidity near 70%. I tried the flashlight test and I can see a small amount of light emitting from the front -- you can see that the lid is slightly warped where it closes so there is small space in the middle but not on the sides. I'm using 2 ounces of 70% beads for the 3.5" x 12" x 18" humidor with 30-ish cigars so that shouldn't be an issue.
I understand that Elie Bleus have a lifetime warranty but I don't who to contact about returning it for service. Does anyone know who I can contact about warranty information -- maybe it is printed on product literature if anyone still has that. Thanks. -Frank |

Re: Elie Bleu Humidor not working properly
How high can you get the humidity? Maybe a small piece of weather stripping will work?

Re: Elie Bleu Humidor not working properly
I get it up to about 66% but I have to saturate the beads.

IMHO, 62-68% is the perfect range. Seems I have burn issues with anything a little more wet.(70%) NCRM |

Re: Elie Bleu Humidor not working properly
I agree. The problem is, I only get that humidity with the beads saturated which is like having a cup of water in there. It makes it difficult to regulate the humidity. I am going to try using a piece of masking tape on the ridge where the lid closes -- that should tighten up the seal.
In any case, if anyone knows how to get in contact with Elie Bleu, I would rather have the humidor serviced under warranty than use a band-aid fix. -Frank |

Thanks Capper. I will give them a call tomorrow. Now I wish I studied harder in my HS French class.

Re: Elie Bleu Humidor not working properly
I posted below on making up cigar box humidors... I've found that a very thin coating of silicone adhesive does wonders for the seal... Take it for what it's worth!

Re: Elie Bleu Humidor not working properly
If the humidor has been out of service for some time perhaps it needs to be seasoned again. The lid showing signs of warpage might indcate that it has dried out too much and the wood has shrunk.
