Lauan Plywood vs Spanish Cedar Plywood

Does anyone feel that Spanish Cedar 1/4" plywood would have any difference over 1/4" Lauan? I don't feel that you would get any nice smell or different absorption properties from Plywood Spanish Cedar considering it's just a veneer.

Any thoughts? I've used the Lauan product in my cabinet humidor and was thinking about using spanish cedar but for the extra cost, it doesn't seem worth it.

I also understand that if I used 1/4" lumber that would be completely different.

Thanks,

Munt!!!

I don't think that's good stuff to use. Personally, I've never come across veneer plywood, MDF maybe. The MDF-based stuff is what is used in most commercial units and a lot of small Cuban Crafter type humis.

I would stick to raw spanish cedar and plane it down. Lauan isn't good at mold and bug resistance, which generally means its bad news for humis.
