Acrylic Humidor

I am contemplating building an acrylic humidor and was just looking for some input (such as good/bad idea). I would definitely line it with cedar (I was thinking 3/8 or 1/2"), so I would not be as concerned with rh fluctuations. I like the idea of it being see through all over, it would allow me to drool and not get the sticks wet .

If it is lined with cedar how could it be see-through
Unless you had clear cedar

As long as it seals properly and is lined with Spanish cedar, should not be a problem at all.

Re: Acrylic Humidor

I asked a similar question a short while back, and got a thumbs-up response as to whether it should work.

I went ahead with mine, and it is working wonderfully. A tube of Heartfelt beads keeps RH reasonably constant, and every stick I've pulled from it has smoked wonderfully so far. I made a cedar floor from a cigar box I got from my local B+M.

Good luck with yours!

Re: Acrylic Humidor

The cedar is not going to fix RH fluctuations, a good humidity element, seal and full box of cigars is what's going to keep it flat. I'd only consider cedar for the bottom layer if at all.

The point of having it clear is to not have cedar.

Re: Acrylic Humidor

The only concern I might have about acrylic is the potential for a lingering "plastic" oder and how that might affect your cigars.
