Tupperware
I just started smoking cigars about a month ago, so I have been doing a lot of research online about how to cut cigars and how to light cigars. One thing I looked up online is how to store cigars. The website I went to said to store them in a humidor but that an alternative to a humidor is Tupperware. I'm considering storing my cigars in Tupperware, because I can't afford a humidor right now. So can anyone tell me if that's a good idea? Is Tupperware just about as good as a humidor for storing cigars?

Re: Tupperware
Tupperware is a fine alternative to a humidor.
Also if you really get into cigars and acquire a large number of them you can use a cooler instaed of a humidor.

Re: Tupperware
Tupperware is the brand name of a home products line that includes preparation, storage, and serving products for the kitchen and home, which debuted in 1946.
Tupperware develops, manufactures, and internationally distributes its products by its parent company Tupperware Brands Corporation and it is marketed by means of direct sales through an independent sales force of approximately 1.9 million consultants. Tupperware is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tupperware Brands Corporation. In today's common parlance, the brand name "Tupperware"—much like the brand names "Kleenex" and "Band-aid"—refers to an entire class of products, not only the brand to which it denotes. Typically, the word is used to signify any plastic storage container for the kitchen, not only Tupperware branded products. |

Re: Tupperware
Knowing a little about plastics, it's not something I'd want my cigars resting on for the long term. For several days or a few weeks, you should be fine. Longer, and I'd want something between the tobacco and the plastic. Check around at your local B&Ms and gather up a few thin pieces of cedar; the sheets that usually lay atop the cigars when they come in the boxes. Lay that in the tupperware and your cigars on top of that.
