SEARCH, N00B!!!!

Anyway, the consensus seems to be that you need a specialty lumber (not to be confused with lumbar) yard, to fill your order. Check the phone book for lumber yards, call around. Or check your B&M for old boxes, and break em up, whichever. Hope this helps

Yeah they'll custom cut a liner to your dimensions.

Re: Where can I buy Spanish Cedar?

Most lumber yards wont have SpC (at least around me they dont) and Lowes and Home Depot dont carry it.

Bargainhumidors is one source and rockler.com is another.

You need a specialty supplier. One that supplies hobbyists. Try calling a Woodcraft or Rockler near you. I'm sure they can recommend a place if they don't have it.

Re: Where can I buy Spanish Cedar?

What I've been thinking of doing (fo rquite some time now) is taking blocks of Spanish cedar or Honduran mahogany and putting them through a shredder, take the shavings & put them in small cloth bags, and stick those in my humidor to "add" more of a cedar environment for the cigars to age in.

Anyone got an idea of where I cahn find a good shredder?! (Please!)

Check with Tom Delay's office staff. Probably well used, so you might get a good deal.

Mo, I have no idea whether or not you are serious, but a handheld planer (a cheap black and decker one is like $30) will do exactly what you are looking for.

Just remember, for anyone cutting SpC....wear a mask! The dust will make you miserable...trust me.

The trays from bargainhumidors are very nice. I have three of them, and they are very well constructed and can hold ~2 boxes a piece.

I've also seen SpC planks sold by the lot on Ebay at times. It's a little pricey, but I think you'll find this just about anywhere.

Cheers!!

Re: Where can I buy Spanish Cedar?

The downside of internet ordering SC boards is twofold.

1. You get odd size boards that together add up to the purchased board feet. Not a real big deal, but it can sometimes be inconvenient.

2. Shipping can cost as much as the wood.

Most major Metro areas will have a place in driving distance that will have exotic woods. It's nice to pick a rough board and get it milled to your specs.

That said, if you aren't real picky and want the convenience of having it shipped to your door, I've used this place before: lumberforsale.com

Re: Where can I buy Spanish Cedar?

I still think empty boxes are the best way to go. Just keep your loose cigars in them. You can get them either for free or at a nominal cost from your local B&M.
