Lighter filling situation
So i love my new vector torch. When I fill it, the butane can's nozzle leaks a crapload of butane, effectively giving my hand frostbite while barely filling the lighter. I'd say a good 50% leaks out, 50% makes it into the lighter. WTF? I am wasting expensive butane!
Do all lighters does this? do i need an adapter? |

My Nibo does this when I fill it with a can of VecToR butane. The one adaptor that worked for it split in half, so now I just use the metal nozzle on the can itself. Ends up spewing butane everywhere.. On that note, I took the bottom half of my nibo off, I can see that the reservoir fills in about 3 seconds. All these mfg's stating do 2-3 5 second fills are just making us waste butane.. (atleast in the case of my Nibo, it fills super fast). |

Re: Lighter filling situation
Interesting because I am also using VecTor butane. I wonder if they use a slightly larger nozzle for some inexplicable reason.

Re: Lighter filling situation
I have about six lighters, torch and flint, and have a problem with Vector in about half of them. Three will fill perfectly and the other three spray fuel all over the place. I have 2 cans of Vector right now and both cans do the same thing. What's interesting is that I took one of the "problem" lighters with me to Frank's house and it filled perfectly with his can of Vector. Now, I've also used Colibri fuel on each of these lighters and it has filled perfectly every time. Bad cans of Vector?....maybe. As far as those little red nipples go, I throw them in the trash as soon as I take the top off. I've never had them work. I've been aiming to try King butane. When you go to the Lava site and it tells you they are out of stock, it will direct you to a link for King. Frank ordered some and I'm just waiting to see what his opinion is before I buy.

Re: Lighter filling situation
I have a vector lighter (Emporer) with the problem you describe as well.
The thing with them is they have a thin fill valve or poor valve spring; the valve doesn't seal properly upon closing. If the valve looks a little bent, try to straighten it out. Also, you can use one of the fill adapters that come with the butane to push the valve in and let it out repeatedly to "excercise" out any kinks. Vector really needs to redesign their fill valves because otherwise they are excellent lighters. -Matt- |
