I've found that depending on how "wet" the boxes you have are, and how well your cooler seals, you may not need to add humidity for awhile. I just pulled the beads out of mine to let the humidity drop a few points.

I'd get a reliable hygrometer first. My radio-shack wireless unit rocks. I checked it with a calibration kit and it was dead-on.

The beads will also help to lower your humidity as well as raise it.

Unless you are a dummy like me and overcharged the beads...everytime I put them (65% heartfelt) into the cooler, humidity goes up about 3 points. I'm letting them dry out for a couple days.

Re: Humidifying the Coolidor?

You can place them on a cookie sheet and place in the oven on "warm" or use a hair dryer on low to dry them out. If you do this be careful cause if you drop the little boogers they will go everywhere.

Re: Humidifying the Coolidor?

Just like a freezer works better the fuller it is with frozen stuff, a coolerdor works better the fuller it is with humid stuff. I haven't used a humidification device in my cooler, aside from letting a moise paper towel dry out inside it every few monts, for over a year. Being packed with cigars in boxes or on spanish cedar trays, the coolerdor pretty much regulates itself.

Doesn't the moist paper towel present a mold risk?
